چکیده

This paper presents an efficient block Schur algorithm for the joint detection of several CDMA codes in third generation mobile radio systems. It can, for instance, be used in time-slotted CDMA mobile radio systems, mobile radio systems using multi carrier CDMA, and direct sequence CDMA systems. After rearranging the system matrix into a block Toeplitz matrix, the proposed block Schur algorithm (BSA) is applied. Due to its high degree of inherent parallelism, the BSA is well suited for an efficient parallel hardware implementation. Moreover, it achieves an increased estimation accuracy for a given word length by factorizing the rearranged system matrix directly instead of “squaring” it to obtain its Gramian. Thereby, the near-far problem is reduced significantly. If inter-symbol-interference occurs between several symbols, a reduction of the computational complexity is obtained by exploiting the block Toeplitz structure of the rearranged system matrix.

Schur algorithms for joint-detection in TD-CDMA based mobile radio systems

Third generation mobile radio systems will employ TD-CDMA in their TDD mode. In a TD-CDMA mobile radio system, joint-detection is equivalent to solving a least squares problem with a system matrix that exhibits some form of block-Toeplitz structure. This structure can be successfully exploited by using variations of the Schur algorithm for computing the QR decomposition of this system matrix. T...

Comparative study of joint-detection techniques for TD-CDMA based mobile radio systems

Third-generation mobile radio systems use time division-code division multiple access (TD-CDMA) in their time division duplex (TDD) mode. Due to the time division multiple access (TDMA) component of TD-CDMA, joint (or multi-user) detection techniques can be implemented with a reasonable complexity. Therefore, joint detection will already be implemented in the first phase of the system deploymen...

Joint-Detection using Fast Fourier Transforms in TD-CDMA based Mobile Radio Systems

Third generation mobile radio systems will employ TD-CDMA in their TDD mode. In a TD-CDMA mobile radio system, jointdetection is equivalent to solving a least squares problem with a block-Toeplitz system matrix. By extending this matrix to a block-circulant matrix, it is possible to blockdiagonalize the matrix with Fast Fourier Transforms. For the typical system scenario of a TD-CDMA system, th...

Efficient Joint Detection Techniques for TD-CDMA in the Frequency Domain

Third generation mobile radio systems will employ TD-CDMA in their TDD mode. To increase the capacity and performance of this system, the receiver will contain a joint detector. Joint detection is equivalent to solving a least squares problem, which represents a significant computational effort because of the amount of data that is involved. Therefore, algorithms and implementations must be dev...

mobile subscribers has increased much faster than anticipated. This trend is expected to continue in the future. According to the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) Forum [1], there will be around 400 million mobile subscribers worldwide in the year 2000 and almost 1800 million subscribers in the year 2010. In recent years, the number of subscribers to analog firstgeneration mobil...
