Self-synchronization and Task Fulllment in Social Insects

چکیده
Some authors have hypothesized that the observed self-synchronized activity in ant colonies provides some adaptive advantages, and, in particular, it has been suggested that task realization may beneet from this ordered temporal pattern of behavior (Robinson, 1992; Hatcher et al., 1992). In this paper we couple models of self-synchronized activity (the Fluid Neural Network) and of regulation of division of labour (the Fixed Threshold Model) to suggest that with self-synchronized patterns of activity a task may be fullled more eeectively than with random patterns of activity at the same average level of activity per individual.

متن کاملSynchronization of Chaotic Fractional-Order Lu-Lu Systems with Active Sliding Mode Control
Synchronization of chaotic and Lu system has been done using the active sliding mode control strategy. Regarding the synchronization task as a control problem, fractional order mathematics is used to express the system and active sliding mode for synchronization. It has been shown that, not only the performance of the proposed method is satisfying with an acceptable level of control signal, but...
متن کاملMotivational Beliefs, Self-Regulation and EFL Listening Achievement: A Path Analysis
Informed by the expectancy-value and social cognitive theories of learning, the present study proposed a path model to investigate the impact of motivational beliefs as defined by listening self-efficacy, three types of goal orientations, and task value on self-regulation of Iranian EFL learners, in addition to the unique contribution of each to the variability in the listening comprehension sc...
متن کاملTeamwork in Self-Organised Robot Colonies
Swarm robotics draws inspiration from decentralised, self-organising biological systems in general and from the collective behaviour of social insects in particular. In social insect colonies, many tasks are performed by higher-order group or team entities, whose task solving capacities transcend those of the individual participants. In this paper, we investigate the emergence of such higher-or...
متن کاملAccessible cultural mind-set modulates default mode activity: evidence for the culturally situated brain.
Self-construal priming modulates human behavior and associated neural activity. However, the neural activity associated with the self-construal priming procedure itself remains unknown. It is also unclear whether and how self-construal priming affects neural activity prior to engaging in a particular task. To address this gap, we scanned Chinese adults, using functional magnetic resonance imagi...
