Noninvasive pacing during transfemoral implantation of the Edwards SAPIEN valve for tricuspid valve bioprosthesis stenosis

چکیده
Introduction Transcatheter implantation of balloon expandable valves in high-risk patients with degenerated tricuspid bioprostheses has been reported since 2010 [1, 2]. Although there have been cases where the SAPIEN valve was implanted in the tricuspid position without rapid pacing [3, 4], invasive rapid ventricular pacing is usually applied during valve deployment. We present a case report documenting for the first time the use of noninvasive, external rapid pacing delivered through defibrillation sticker-pads during transfemoral implantation of the Edwards SAPIEN XT valve for tricuspid valve bioprosthesis stenosis.

after multidisciplinary evaluation, 3 high-risk patients underwent transfemoral tricuspid valve-in-ring implantation (TVIRI) for refractory congestive heart failure because of deterioration of their tricuspid surgery, using Sapien XT valves (Edwards Lifesciences Inc, Irvine, CA). Background—Transcatheter aortic valve implantation was developed to provide a therapeutic option for patients considered to be ineligible for, and to mitigate mortality and morbidity associated with, high-risk surgical aortic valve replacement. Methods and Results—The Edwards SAPIEN Aortic Bioprosthesis European Outcome (SOURCE) Registry was designed to assess initial post commercial clinical t...

BACKGROUND Transaortic (TAo) transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an alter-native approach in patients considered to be at high risk for classical open surgery with poor peripheral vessel access. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of using TAo access for TAVI procedures employing the Edwards SAPIEN transcatheter heart valve. The primary objective was to dete...

Background—Transcatheter aortic valve implantation was developed to mitigate the mortality and morbidity associated with high-risk traditional aortic valve replacement. The Edwards SAPIEN valve was approved for transcatheter aortic valve implantation transfemoral delivery in the European Union in November 2007 and for transapical delivery in January 2008. Methods and Results—The SAPIEN Aortic B...

A 73-year old man underwent trans-septal anterograde implantation of a 26-mm Sapien-XT valve (Edwards Lifesciences, CA, USA) to treat a degenerated 27-mm Carpentier-Edwards bioprosthesis. During the follow-up, the patient experienced severe haemolysis with moderate-to-severe inter-valvular leak, and fluoroscopy revealed possible incomplete apposition of the Sapien-XT (Fig. 1). Reoperation was p...
