چکیده

Over the past two decades, the dipole approximation has facilitated a basic understanding of the photoionization process in atoms and molecules. Recent experiments on the Is inner shells of small molecules at relatively low photon energies (< 1000 eV) show strong nondipole effects. They are significant and measurable at energies close to threshold, in conflict with a common assumption that the dipole approximation is valid for photon energies below 1 keV. INTRODUCTION The electric-dipole (El) approximation [1], applied to photoionization, leads to the well-known expression for the differential cross section [2],

Photoelectron Spectroscopy and the Dipole Approximation

Over the past three decades, the dipole approximation has facilitated a basic understanding of the photoionization process in atoms and molecules. Advances in gas-phase photoemission experiments using synchrotron radiation have recently highlighted nondipole effects at relatively low photon energies while probing the limits of the dipole approximation. Breakdowns in this approximation are manif...

Molecular frame photoelectron angular distribution for oxygen 1s photoemission from CO2 molecules

We have measured photoelectron angular distributions in the molecular frame (MF-PADs) for O 1s photoemission from CO2, using photoelectron-O+–CO+ coincidence momentum imaging. Results for the molecular axis at 0, 45 and 90◦ to the electric vector of the light are reported. The major features of the MF-PADs are fairly well reproduced by calculations employing a relaxed-core Hartree–Fock approach...

Calculation of the Induced Charge Distribution on the Surface of a Metallic Nanoparticle Due to an Oscillating Dipole Using Discrete Dipole Approximation method

In this paper, the interaction between an oscillating dipole moment and a Silver nanoparticle has been studied. Our calculations are based on Mie scattering theory and discrete dipole approximation(DDA) method. At first, the resonance frequency due to excitingthe localized surface plasmons has been obtained using Mie scattering theory and then by exciting a dipole moment in theclose proximity of...

Linear Dichroism in Photoemission from Oriented Molecules

I t is shown that oriented molecules reveal both Linear Dichroism (LD) and Linear Dichroism in the Angular Distribution (LDAD) of photoelectrons, which means a difference between photoelectron currents ejected at a defmite angle by linearly polarized light of two mutually perpendicular polarizations. Measurements of LD and LDAD enable one to investigate the orientation of molecules and to make ...

Theoretical Analysis of the Optical Properties of Gold Nanoparticles Using DDA Approximation

This article describes a study, using numerical simulation, of the optical properties of nano particles as a function of their size. Many methods introduced to simulate and calculate the interaction of light and particle, such as Mie analysis, boundary element and finite element methods. The Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA), wherein a target geometry is modeled as a ...
