چکیده

ince the introduction of transvenous cardiac pacing S by Furman and Schwedell in 1959, numerous reports of unusual complications have appeared. To o w knowledge, rupture of a papillary muscle o r any valvular component has not been reported previously. This report describes a case of mitral valve papillary muscle rupture upon removal of a transvenous pacing electrode. Furthermore, this patient is of interest in that she underwent transvenous permanent cardiac pacing with the electrode positioned in the left ventricle, having passed through a patent foramen ovale, for a period of 20 months.

A rare complication of AMI is papillary muscle rupture (PMR), occurring in 1% of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Mitral regurgitation related to PMR occurs at a median of 1 day (ranging from 1-14 days) after onset of myocardial infarction. PMR tends to occur in those having a first time AMI and those without extensive collateral circulation. PMR involves posteromedial papillary...

Background: Primary intra cardiac tumors are rare. In this article, we present papillary fibroelastoma of mitral valve chordae. Case Presentation: A 35-year old man presented with atypical chest pain and palpitation. Physical examination and electrocardiogram were normal. Mitral incompetence complicating acute myocardial infarction.

Mitral incompetence appearing in connexion with acute coronary heart disease without papillary muscle rupture has not received much attention until recently. Castex (1933) presented eight patients with electrocardiographic findings of inferior myocardial infarction and with an apical murmur of mitral incompetence as a distinct clinical syndrome. Nezlin and Shamesova (1951) paid attention to the...

Angiographic features of rheumatic and nonrheumatic mitral regurgitation.

Left ventricular cineangiography was performed in 37 patients with mitral regurgitation. Twenty-one patients had rheumatic mitral valve disease determined by careful surgical and pathologic examination, 10 had papillary muscle dysfunction, and six had chordae tendineae rupture. Fourteen of the 16 patients considered to have nonrheumatic mitral regurgitation were confirmed surgically; the other ...
