چکیده
The effects of three harvesting dates; 120 150 and 180 days after planting (DAP) and four potassium fertilizer levels; 0, 48, 72 and 96 Kg K2O fed -1 , on vegetative growth characteristics, tuber yield potential and quality of Jerusalem artichoke (cv. Balady) were studied. Two field experiments were conducted during the two successive summer seasons of 2001 and 2002 at the Experimental station Farm, at Abeis, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University. The results revealed that delaying harvesting date up to 180 days after planting was accompanied with significant increases in plant height, leaf's dry matter content (%), number of main stems and canopy fresh mass per plant. Moreover, yield potential; i.e. tuber yield / plant, total tuber yield / m 2 and average tuber weight; were positively and significantly increased by the late harvest (180 DAP). It was also noticed that the late harvesting date lowered the leaf's N content, but raised the leaf's K content. However, leaf's P content was not significantly affected by harvesting dates. The harvested tubers at 180 days age were characterized with high contents of total soluble solids, total carbohydrates, inulin, protein and K; indicating that the late was the harvest J.Agric.&Env.Sci.Alex.Univ.,Egypt Vol.4 (2)2005 38 date the higher was the nutritional quality of Jerusalem

Photoperiod and growing degree days effect on dry matter partitioning in Jerusalem artichoke
The effect of photoperiod and growing degree days (GDD) on dry matter and dry matter partitioning in Jerusalem artichoke was investigated during 2008-09 and 2009-10. Three Jerusalem artichoke genotypes (CN-52867, JA-89 and HEL-65) were planted in 15 day-intervals between with thirteen different dates (September 20 to March 20) atKhon Kaen University,Thailand. Jerusalem artichoke genotypes ...
متن کاملResponses of inulin content and inulin yield of Jerusalem artichoke to seasonal environments
Seasonal variation (e.g. temperature and photoperiod) between growing seasons might affectinulin content and inulin yield of Jerusalem artichoke. However, there is limited information ongenotypic response to seasons for inulin content and inulin yield. The objective of this studywas to investigate the variability in genotypic response to seasons for inulin content and inulinyield of Jerusalem a...

Four bioagents i.e. yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), Trichoderma viride, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas fluorescens in addition to humic acid, sulphated canola oil (sulphex 0.5%) and Paclobutrazol (PBZ) were applied to study their effect on disease incidence caused by Sclerotium rolfsii. Also, some vegetative parameters, tuber yield and enzymes activity of Jerusalem artichokes (Helianthus ...
متن کاملInvestigating the Possibility of Increasing the Quality of Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) by Iron Nano Oxide Foliar Application
Alkalinity of the soil is one of the main problems in some soils of Iran, which reduces the solubility and reduces the absorption of essential nutrients, including the iron element for the plant. Iron deficiency in plants reduces photosynthesis and reduces production. The present experiment, as a factorial, was conducted in the form of a statistical design of complete randomized blocks and in 3...

In order to investigate the effect of different levels of biological fertilizers on potato performance (cv. Marfona), an experiment was carried out as strip plot based on RCB design with 3 replications in 2011 at Isfahan. Treatments included Nitrocara at 4 levels (0: control, 220, 330 and 440 ml.ha-1) as a first factor and Nitroxin+ Phosphate at 4 levels (0+0: control, 20+100, 30+150...
