Optimized extraction procedure for quantifying norisoprenoids in honey and honey food products.

چکیده
Norisoprenoids appear as promising compounds for authenticating unifloral honeys. So far, however, no method has been optimized for their isolation from a matrix so rich in sugars. In this framework, an original extraction procedure based on the use of Amberlite XAD-16 was developed. Recovery factors were determined and compared with those obtained with another resin (XAD-2). This was done for different model media and various norisoprenoids. In aqueous or alcoholic solutions, the efficiency of both resins proved very high. As expected, addition of honey decreased the adsorption of nonpolar compounds. This effect was much more pronounced with the lower-porosity XAD-2 support. Sugar addition markedly improved the recovery factors obtained with the XAD-16 resin in the case of more polar norisoprenoids.

Composition of sulla (Hedysarum coronarium L.) honey solvent extractives determined by GC/MS: norisoprenoids and other volatile organic compounds.
Samples of unifloral sulla (Hedysarum coronarum L.) honey from Sardinia (Italy) were analysed. To investigate the chemical composition of the honey volatiles two solvent systems were used for ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE): 1) a 1:2 (v/v) pentane and diethyl ether mixture and 2) dichloromethane. All the extracts were analysed by GC and GC/MS. These procedures have permitted the identificat...

Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME; PDMS/DVB fibre) and ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE; solvent A: pentane and diethyl ether (1:2 v/v), solvent B: dichloromethane) followed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC, GC-MS) were used for the analysis of Prunus mahaleb L. honey samples. Screening was focused toward chemical composition of natural organic volatiles to determi...
متن کاملCharacterization of Clostridium botulinum spores and its toxin in honey
Botulism is a serious paralytic disease caused by Clostridium botulinum toxin in foods. There are seven recognized serotypes of botulinum neurotoxins among which the principal prevalent types in humans include A, B and E. Infant botulism results from intestinal colonization and toxin production by C. botulinum spores in babies less than 1 year old. Honey is the most important food discriminated...
