چکیده
Annals of Indian Academy of Neurology ¦ Volume 20 ¦ Issue 2 ¦ April-June 2017 160 Sir, Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVT) accounts for 0.5%–1% of all stroke cases.[1] Stroke registry in India reported 1.22% of strokes to be due to CVT. It is commonly seen in young female in peripartum period.[2] The etiological factors include pregnancy, dehydration, use of oral contraceptive pills or other drugs, infections, prothrombotic states, hematological disorders, and connective tissue disorders.[1] Most common clinical features are headache and seizures.[3,4] Diplopia, papilledema, and motor deficits such as mono or hemiparesis are frequent findings.[1] Systemic anticoagulation using conventional or low molecular weight heparin is the mainstay of treatment.[1] About 9%–13% of patients deteriorate on anticoagulation and direct catheter-guided thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy is preferred treatment modality in such cases.[1,5]

Two Cases of Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis Successfully Recanalized by the Concomitant Use of an Aspiration through the Guiding Catheter and Stent Thrombectomy Device
Objective: Two cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) effectively recanalized endovascularly by a combination of thromboaspiration using Cerulean catheter DD6 and stent retriever device are reported. Case Presentations: We endovascularly treated two cases of CVST that presented with progressive vomiting and disturbance of consciousness several days before the diagnosis of occlusion of...

Background: Cerebral venous-sinus thrombosis is an uncommon form but important cause of stroke, especially in young-aged women. Methods: We performed a retrospective descriptive-analytical study in which 124 patients with cerebral venous-sinus thrombosis, who referred to Nemazee Hospital, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences from January 2000 to March 2008, were included, and their dem...
متن کاملDelay in Diagnosis of Cerebral Venous and Sinus Thrombosis: Successful Use of Mechanical Thrombectomy and Thrombolysis
Cerebral venous and sinus thrombosis is a relatively rare condition with a variable presentation that can translate into a difficult workup and a delay in diagnosis and treatment. We describe the successful use of mechanical thrombectomy and thrombolysis in the case of an eighteen-year-old woman that presented with progressive thrombosis of the jugular veins and dural sinuses despite adequate a...

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosisis an uncommon entity and its clinical presentations are highly variable. We present the case of superior sagittal sinus thrombosis. Although it was medical refractory, successfully treated with mechanical thrombectomy using the Solitaire FR device. A 27-year-old man who presented with venous infarction accompanied by petechial hemorrhage secondary to the superio...
