The Status and Future of PET Myocardial Blood Flow Quantification Software
نویسندگان
چکیده
Myocardial blood flow (MBF) quantification with PET is generally considered a gold standard for the measurement of myocardial perfusion in absolute terms. The resulting values of MBF and myocardial flow reserve (MFR) used to determine the diagnostic path of a patient have a twofold (for MFR) or threefold (for MBF) range in literature, which interferes with establishing meaningful cutoffs̶numeric values to tell healthy tissues from sick. The review discusses software-based causes of variation of the quantification values that can be introduced at various steps of an image analysis̶reconstruction, segmentation, quality control, tracer kinetic modelling, and outputting the resulting values. The review discusses possible solutions as well as the future of myocardial blood flow quantification software development.

Effect of Post-Reconstruction Gaussian Filtering on Image Quality and Myocardial Blood Flow Measurement with N-13 Ammonia PET
Objective(s): In order to evaluate the effect of post-reconstruction Gaussian filtering on image quality and myocardial blood flow (MBF) measurement by dynamic N-13 ammonia positron emission tomography (PET), we compared various reconstruction and filtering methods with image characteristics. Methods: Dynamic PET images of three patients with coronary artery disease (male-female ratio of 2:1; a...

A number of exciting advances in PET/CT technology and improvements in methodology have recently converged to enhance the feasibility of routine clinical quantification of myocardial blood flow and flow reserve. Recent promising clinical results are pointing toward an important role for myocardial blood flow in the care of patients. Absolute blood flow quantification can be a powerful clinical ...
متن کامل82Rb PET imaging of myocardial blood flow—have we achieved the 4 “R”s to support routine use?
Routine quantification of myocardial blood flow (MBF) in absolute units of mL/min/g has long been one of the technical milestones expected to enable the widespread clinical application of cardiac positron emission tomography (PET). The recent study by Germino et al. [1] contributes significantly to the increasing body of literature supporting the potential for rubidium-82 (Rb) PET to become the...

The availability of plastic microspheres labeled with different -emitting isotopes has allowed the quantification of blood flow in different organs, including the heart (1). In the past 3 decades this has made it possible to study the changes in myocardial blood flow (MBF) under different physiologic and pathophysiologic conditions in experimental animals. In a similar fashion, the development ...

BACKGROUND Our aim was to characterize the influence of time-of-flight (TOF) and point spread function (PSF) recovery corrections, as well as ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM) reconstruction parameters, in 82Rb PET/CT quantification of myocardial blood flow (MBF) and myocardial flow reserve (MFR). Rest and stress list-mode dynamic 82Rb PET acquisition data from 10 patients without ...
