چکیده

We study the intermediate extension of the character sheaves on an adjoint group to the semi-stable locus of its wonderful compactification. We show that the intermediate extension can be described by a direct image construction. As a consequence, we show that the “ordinary” restriction of a character sheaf on the compactification to a boundary piece inside the semi-stable locus is a shift of semisimple perverse sheaf and is closely related to Lusztig’s restriction functor (from a character sheaf on a reductive group to a direct sum of character sheaves on a Levi subgroup). We also provide a (conjectural) formula for the boundary values inside the semi-stable locus of an irreducible character of a finite group of Lie type, which gives a partial answer to a question of Springer [Sp2]. This formula holds for Steinberg character and characters coming from generic character sheaves. In the end, we verify Lusztig’s conjecture [L3, 12.6] inside the semi-stable locus of the wonderful compactification.

The Character Sheaves on the Group Compactification

We give a definition of character sheaves on the group compactification which is equivalent to Lusztig’s definition in [Moscow Math. J. 4 (2004) 869-896]. We also prove some properties of the character sheaves on the group compactification.

Moduli of Generalized Line Bundles on a Ribbon

A ribbon is a first-order thickening of a non-singular curve. We show that a compactification of the moduli space of generalized line bundles on a ribbon is given by the Simpson moduli space of semi-stable sheaves. We then describe the geometry of this space, determining the irreducible components, connectedness, and the smooth locus.

Some subvarieties of the De Concini-Procesi compactification

This thesis is concerned with the intrinsic structure of the De Concini-Procesi compactification of semi-simple adjoint algebraic groups and some relations with other topics of algebraic groups. In chapter 1, we study the closure of the totally positive part of an adjoint group in the group compactification. One result that we obtain is the positive property of the closure with respect to the c...

A Note on Moduli of Vector Bundles on Rational Surfaces

Let (X,H) be a pair of a smooth rational surface X and an ample divisor H on X . Assume that (KX , H) < 0. Let MH(r, c1, χ) be the moduli space of semi-stable sheaves E of rk(E) = r, c1(E) = c1 and χ(E) = χ. To consider relations between moduli spaces of different invariants is an interesting problem. If (c1, H) = 0 and χ ≤ 0, then Maruyama [Ma2], [Ma3] studied such relations and constructed a ...
