Necrotic Hepatic Hemangioma Mimicking Liver Metastasis at
نویسنده
چکیده
73-year-old male was a victim of sigmoid colon cancer. He received a sigmoid-colectomy 10 years ago. He suffered from watery diarrhea about 3 times per day for 2-3 months recently. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a heterogeneously enhanced mass in the transverse colon and a 9x8.2 cm well-marginated mass in the left lobe of the liver. The hepatic tumor showed mixed signal intensity on T1-weighted imaging (T1WI ), low signal intensity with small spotted high signals on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI). Recurrent colon cancer with liver metastasis was impressed. The patient received transverse and descending-colectomy and left hepatectomy. Histopathological examination showed solitary hepatic mass virtually filled with yellowish white necrotic material. A dark-red, blood clot-like substance at the periphery was noted in gross. In microscopic examination, the liver tumor was composed entirely of fibrin clot and blood clot at center with closely aggregated, ectactic and congested thinwalled vessels at small focal area at the periphery of the tumor. Hepatic hemangioma coexisting with a transverse colon mucinous adenocarcinoma was diagnosed by the pathologist. The MRI findings did not showed the characteristics of hepatic hemangioma. The atypical appearance was due to marked hemorrhagic necrosis of the tumor. We report this unusual case, and suggest to consider the possibility of atypical hemangioma in liver masses with similar imaging patterns.

Solitary Necrotic Nodules of the Liver Mimicking Hepatic Metastasis: Report of Two Cases
We present two cases of solitary necrotic nodules of the liver which on radiologic images mimicked hepatic metastasis. Solitary necrotic nodule of the liver is a rare but benign entity which histopathologically consists of an outer fibrotic capsule with inflammatory cells and a central core of amorphous necrotic material. The lesion was seen on contrast-enhanced CT as an ovoid-shaped hypoattenu...

INTRODUCTION Hepatic sclerosing hemangioma is a very rare benign tumor, characterized by fibrosis and hyalinization occurring in association with degeneration of a hepatic cavernous hemangioma. We report here a rare case of multiple hepatic sclerosing hemangioma mimicking metastatic liver tumor that was successfully treated using laparoscopic surgery. متن کاملA case of pedunculated hepatic hemangioma mimicking submucosal tumor of the stomach
Hepatic hemangioma is the most common benign tumor of the liver. Most such hemangiomas are small, asymptomatic, and have an excellent prognosis. Giant hepatic hemangioma has been reported in the literature, but the exophytic and pedunculated forms of hepatic hemangioma are rare. A 56-year-old woman was referred to our hospital under the suspicion of having a gastric submucosal tumor. Abdominal ...

INTRODUCTION Solitary necrotic nodule of the liver is a rare lesion, with similar radiologic findings to those of hepatic metastases or other liver masses. CASE PRESENTATION We here report a case of a 30-year-old male with hepatic solitary necrotic nodule discovered after an episode of acute abdominal pain and high grade fever. Routine laboratory data revealed leukocytosis and abnormal liver ...

Hepatic hemangiomas are the most frequently seen benign liver mass. However, exophytic hepatic hemangiomas, particularly pedunculated ones are very rare. They have various appearances that make the diagnosis difficult. We report a pedunculated hemangioma case which was misdiagnosed as gastrointestinal stromal tumor on computerized tomography scan. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that the tu...
