چکیده
Case 2: A 6-year-old boy presented with nonprogressive localized depression in the left gluteal region, noticed two months ago. He had febrile urinary tract infection four months back (two months prior to the gluteal depression), for which he received multiple intramuscular amikacin injections over seven days, with most of the injections administered in the left gluteal region. No other parenteral medication was given. There was no history of pain, redness or swelling at the site after the course of injections. He never received any other intragluteal injections. On examination, a Sir, Localized acquired lipoatrophies constitute a poorly defined group of diseases clinically characterized by focal loss of fat. Many cases may be idiopathic, characterized by loss of adipose tissue without antecedent clinical or histologic inflammation.[1] Lipoatrophy may also occur as a consequence of inflammatory diseases and repeated trauma such as drug injections. Drugs that have been implicated in the pathogenesis of lipoatrophy are insulin, penicillin, and corticosteroids.[1-3] We report two cases of acquired localized lipoatrophy after multiple intramuscular injections of amikacin, which have not been reported in the literature yet. A detailed history and examination did not reveal any antecedent cause of lipoatrophy in both cases.

A Case Of Bilateral Acquired Localized Lipoatrophy
Lipoatrophy is characterized by inflammation and tissue loss in fatty tissue. This disease may be congenital or acquired, primary or secondary. Secondary lipoatrophy develops with infections, collagen tissue diseases, tumors and drug injections. In this report, we present the case of a 14-year-old female patient who developed lipoatrophy following intramuscular steroid injection to both buttocks.

INTRODUCTION Localized involutional lipoatrophy of subcutaneous adipose tissue may develop due to subcutaneous injection of pharmaceutical preparations. The pathogenesis of this adverse drug reaction is unknown. The progression of localized involutional lipoatrophy ceases and occasionally it resolves after withdrawing the inducing agent. In case of localized involutional lipoatrophy due to subc...

INTRODUCTION We present a case of lipoatrophy treated successfully with intralesional normal saline injections. Localized lipodystrophy, or lipoatrophy, presents as focal loss of subcutaneous fat with variable overlying skin changes and depth depending on the cause. Lipoatrophy could result from both oral and local intralesional corticosteroid use, with the buttocks and proximal extremities bei...
متن کاملOnce-daily intramuscular amikacin for outpatient treatment of lower urinary tract infections caused by extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli in children
Background The rise in community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs) with extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli strains raises the question of how to treat these infections effectively in pediatric outpatients. Amikacin has shown promising in vitro activity against ESBL-producing urinary isolates of E. coli; however, clinical data are limited. Objective To inves...
متن کاملLocalised Involutional Lipoatrophy: a Case Report
Localized involutional lipoatrophy (LIL) is a rare distinctive idiopathic form of localized lipoatrophy. The characteristic histopathologic feature of LIL are diminutive fat lobules composed of small adipocyte resembling fetal fat tissue. LIL is not a well-known disorder, there have been only a few reports on LIL in the English literature. We report a case of localised involutional lipoatrophy i...
