Averaging and optimal control of elliptic Keplerian orbits with low propulsion
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article deals with the optimal transfer of a satellite between Keplerian orbits using low propulsion. It is based on preliminary results of Geffroy [Généralisation des techniques de moyennation en contrôle optimal, application aux problèmes de rendez-vous orbitaux à poussée faible, Ph.D. Thesis, Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, France, Octobre 1997] where the optimal trajectories are approximated using averaging techniques. The objective is to introduce the appropriate geometric framework and to complete the analysis of the averaged optimal trajectories for energy minimization, showing in particular the connection with Riemannian problems having integrable geodesics. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. Geometric optimal control of elliptic Keplerian orbits
This article deals with the transfer of a satellite between Keplerian orbits. We study the controllability properties of the system and make a preliminary analysis of the time optimal control using the maximum principle. Second order sufficient conditions are also given. Finally, the time optimal trajectory to transfer the system from an initial low orbit with large eccentricity to a terminal g...
متن کاملGeometric and numerical techniques in optimal control of the two and three-body problems
The objective of this article is to present geometric and numerical techniques developed to study the orbit transfer between Keplerian elliptic orbits in the two-body problem or between quasi-Keplerian orbits in the EarthMoon transfer when low propulsion is used. We concentrate our study on the energy minimization problem. From Pontryagin’s maximum principle, the optimal solution can be found s...
متن کاملLyapunov-based Transfer between Elliptic Keplerian Orbits
We present a study of the transfer of satellites between elliptic Keplerian orbits using Lyapunov stability theory specific to this problem. The construction of Lyapunov functions is based on the fact that a non-degenerate Keplerian orbit is uniquely described by its angular momentum and Laplace (Runge-Lenz) vectors. We suggest a Lyapunov function, which gives a feedback controller such that th...
متن کاملLow-Thrust Optimal Orbit Raising with Plane Change
A new guidance scheme for the problem of Low-thrust transfer between inclined orbits is developed within the framework of optimal control theory. The objective of the guidance scheme is to provide the appropriate thrust steering program that will transfer the vehicle from an inclined low earth orbits to the high earth orbits. The presented guidance scheme is determined using Pontryagin’s princi...
متن کاملShooting and Numerical Continuation Methods for Computing Time-minimal and Energy-minimal Trajectories in the Earth-moon System Using Low Propulsion
In this article we describe the principle of computations of optimal transfers between quasi-Keplerian orbits in the Earth-Moon system using low-propulsion. The spacecraft’s motion is modeled by the equations of the control restricted 3-body problem and we base our work on previous studies concerning the orbit transfer in the two-body problem where geometric and numeric methods were developped ...
