Abstract: An in-Depth Look at Fat Necrosis

چکیده
Methods: A 27-year-old female underwent bilateral breast fat grafting (abroad) in a foreign centre which produced symptomatic palpable lumps. A 3 year post procedure MRI showed bilateral discrete fat necrosis and oil capsular lumps I, largest being 3 by 5 cm. She underwent debridement of bilateral fat necrosis using a microdebrider (Medtronic). Histology confirmed fat necrosis with reactive chronic inflammation and foreign debris with xanthogranulomatous reaction. This was unusual because foreign material is typically not present during fat injection. Post operatively, despite having reduced in size, the patient wanted complete removal and she subsequently agreed for open excision. disCussion: Fat necrosis is a benign nonsuppurative inflammatory process of adipose tissue. Typical MRI features are that of lipid cysts with hypointense T1 signals. The microdebrider is a powered, rotary shaving device with continuous suction that is well established for use in functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) for excision of nasal polyps. We have previously reported its use in gynecomastia and accessory breast removal. The only scar is a 3mm port site in the ipsilateral anterior axillary line. Literature on microdebrider fat removal is limited and we share our experience in this case report. We also illustrate the presentation of fat necrosis histologically from specimens obtained from both the microdebrider and the open excision.

Fat necrosis secondary to pancreatitis mimicking transverse colon cancer: a case report
Abstract Fat necrosis secondary to pancreatitis can be either mild and self limited or create severe organ damage, but may rarely lead to abdominal opancreatic pseudotumor. We report a case of fat necrosis secondary to pancreatitis which clinically simulates transverse colon cancer.

ABSTRACT Background: The transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap remains the gold standard for postmastectomy reconstruction either immediate or delayed. However, transfer of TRAM flap can be associated with donor site morbidities and complications in flap. A successful reconstruction consists of careful patient selection, surgical technique and meticulous preoperative plannin...

Background Buccal fat pad is known as anatomic structure in between the masticatory muscles that separate these muscles from each other and surrounding bone. Ease of access, through the intraoral route makes it suitable choice for obtaining adipose derived stem cells. Methods Intraoral incisions for getting access to the buccal fat of pad are; Retromolar incision, incision in medial of pt...
متن کاملEffect of dietary energy level and docking on carcass characteristics of fat-tailed Kurdi sheep
Effects of partial docking on feedlot performance and body fat characteristics were studied in a fat-tailed sheep breed. Thirty-eight male lambs with an average weight of 4.44 ± 0.48 were randomly divided into two groups. The lambs in one group were partially docked at 3-4 h after birth, using rubber rings, and the lambs in another group remained intact (control). After weaning, 20 male lambs f...
