Validation of the endothelial staining markers CD31 and CD34 in immunohistochemistry of the long saphenous vein.

چکیده
Background/Introduction Endothelial injury during the surgical intervention can significantly affect the functional status of the vein. The endothelial layer plays a vital role in the long saphenous vein for ensuring smooth blood flow and the prevention of vasoconstriction and thrombi formation within the blood vessels. There are few histological studies comparing the different vein harvesting techniques that have studied endothelial layer integrity using CD31 on human long saphenous veins.

Background: Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are capable of self-renewal and large-scale expansion. They also have the capacity to differentiate into a variety of cell types including liver, cardiac and neuron cells. However, it is not yet clear whether hESCs can differentiate to hemangioblasts under in-vitro conditions. Hemangioblasts are bipotential progenitors that can generate hematopoiet...
متن کاملThe utility of ERG, CD31 and CD34 in the cytological diagnosis of angiosarcoma: an analysis of 25 cases.
AIMS Erythroblast transformation specific related gene (ERG), a proto-oncogene member of the erythroblast transformation specific transcription factor family, is a sensitive marker of endothelial differentiation and is expressed in vascular tumours, including angiosarcomas (AS). Immunohistochemistry is necessary for the diagnosis of AS in fine needle aspirates where low cellularity and lack of ...
متن کاملMultilineage Differentiation Activity by the Human Umbilical Vein-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are a very promising transplantable stem cell source for a variety of cell replacement therapies. As the main source of MSC is bone marrow (BM), most of studies have been done on BM-derived MSC (BM-MSC). Umbilical cord (UC)-derived MSC (UC-MSC) which are recently introduced, is one of the good alternative source for these cells. The objective of this stu...
متن کاملArterial flow conditions downregulate thrombomodulin on saphenous vein endothelium.
BACKGROUND The antithrombogenic properties of venous endothelium may be attenuated when vein is implanted in the arterial circulation. Such changes may facilitate thrombosis, which is the final common pathway for saphenous vein arterial bypass graft occlusion. METHODS AND RESULTS Using human saphenous vein in a validated ex vivo flow circuit, we investigated (1) the possibility that arterial ...

Background and Aim: Tumor angiogenesis is essential for tumor growth and appears to play an importating role both in invasive growth and metastasis. Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) of the skin are derived from a similar cell type but differ in the invasive and metastatic potential. Basal cell carcinoma generally shows a relatively benign course in contrast to sq...
