Cosmic Acceleration, Scalar Fields and Observations

چکیده
Conditions for accelerated expansion of Friedmann–Robertson–Walker space–time are analyzed. Connection of this scenario with present–day observations are reviewed. It is explained how a scalar field could be responsible for cosmic acceleration observed in present times and predicted for the very early Universe. Ideas aimed at answering whether is that the actual case for our Universe are described.

A late time acceleration of the universe with two scalar fields : many possibilities
In the present work, an attempt has been made to explain the recent cosmic acceleration of the universe with two mutually interacting scalar fields, one being the Brans Dicke scalar field and the other a quintessence scalar field. Conditions have been derived for which the quintessence scalar field has an early oscillation and it grows during a later time to govern the dynamics of the universe.
متن کاملQuintessence without scalar fields
The issues of quintessence and cosmic acceleration can be discussed in the framework of theories which do not include necessarily scalar fields. It is possible to define pressure and energy density for new components considering effective theories derived from fundamental physics like the extended theories of gravity or simply generalizing the state equation of matter. Exact accelerated expandi...
متن کاملInflation and quintessence with nonminimal coupling
The nonminimal coupling (NMC) of the scalar field to the Ricci curvature is unavoidable in many cosmological scenarios. Inflation and quintessence models based on nonminimally coupled scalar fields are studied, with particular attention to the balance between the scalar potential and the NMC term ξRφ2/2 in the action. NMC makes acceleration of the universe harder to achieve for the usual potent...

We consider a 5-dimensional scalar-tensor theory which is a direct generalization of the original 4-dimensional Brans-Dicke theory to 5-dimensions. By assuming that there is a hypersurface-orthogonal spacelike Killing vector field in the underlying 5-dimensional spacetime, the theory is reduced to a 4-dimensional theory where the 4-metric is coupled with two scalar fields. The cosmological impl...
متن کاملDynamical Effects of Self-generated Magnetic Fields in Cosmic Ray Modified Shocks
Recent observations of greatly amplified magnetic fields (δB/B ∼ 100) around supernova shocks are consistent with the predictions of the non-linear theory of particle acceleration (NLT), if the field is generated upstream of the shock by cosmic ray induced streaming instability. The high acceleration efficiencies and large shock modifications predicted by NLT need however to be mitigated to con...
