چکیده

Computed tomography technology is one of the important technology techniques, which shows the inside part of the human body through scanning the specific area. FDT Technique aims to augment the precision of the CT image thresholding by implementing an advanced thresholding approach from four different directions. Based on the FDT technique, the foreground and back ground pixel values of the adjacent pixel intensity value. Based on the intensity value, final decision is made based on all four directions. FDT method has been evaluated on different CT images with an aspect that the neighbor pixels in precision of thresholding. The effectiveness of FDT technique is demonstrated by means of the new approach Four Directional Thresholding (FDT) technique. This FDT technique segments the pulmonary parenchyma in ComputedTomography (CT) images using the Similarity-Based Segmentation (SBS). This FDT technique aims to augment the precision of the CT image thresholding by implementing an advanced thresholding approach from four different directions. In which the determination of pixels’ value as being either on foreground or background .With the phenomenon that background pixel’s intensity highly dependent on its adjacent value and the final decision is made based on all four directions’ thresholding results. In this study the precision of thresholding with FDT technique is implemented and the importance of neighbor pixels in it is demonstrated. The effectiveness of FDT method has been evaluated on different CT images. Index Terms – CT Images, FDT, Thresholding,

طراحی سیستم کمک تشخیص کامپیوتری نوین به منظور شناسایی ندول‌های ریوی در تصاویر سی‌تی ‌اسکن

Background: Lung diseases and lung cancer are among the most dangerous diseases with high mortality in both men and women. Lung nodules are abnormal pulmonary masses and are among major lung symptoms. A Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system may play an important role in accurate and early detection of lung nodules. This article presents a new CAD system for lung nodule detection from chest comp...

Computer Aided Detection of Lung Nodules in Multislice Computed Tomography

Early detection may be of critical importance in lung cancer prognosis. Multi-detector Computed Tomography (CT) increases sensitivity in early lung cancer detection by potentially identifying nodules of smaller size. A Computer Aided Detection (CAD) system for automatic identification of lung nodules is proposed. The system is multistage, including segmentation of lung boundaries, initial nodul...

Lung field segmentation from thin-slice CT scans in presence of severe pathology

Conventional methods for the segmentation of lung fields from thorax CT scans are based on thresholding. They rely on a large grey value contrast between the lung parenchyma and surrounding tissues. In the presence of consolidations or other high density pathologies, these methods fail. For the segmentation of such scans, a lung shape should be induced without relying solely on grey level infor...
