چکیده

We propose an efficient computational solver for the eikonal equations on parametric three-dimensional manifolds. Our approach is based on the fast marching method for solving the eikonal equation in O(n log n) steps by numerically simulating wavefront propagation. The obtuse angle splitting problem is reformulated as a set of small integer linear programs, that can be solved in O(n). Numerical simulations demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed algorithm.

Parametric Manifold Learning Via Sparse Multidimensional Scaling

We propose a metric-learning framework for computing distance-preserving maps that generate low-dimensional embeddings for a certain class of manifolds. We employ Siamese networks to solve the problem of least squares multidimensional scaling for generating mappings that preserve geodesic distances on the manifold. In contrast to previous parametric manifold learning methods we show a substanti...

Dynamic and Adaptive Morphing of Three-Dimensional Mesh Using Control Maps

This paper describes a dynamic and adaptive scheme for three-dimensional mesh morphing. Using several control maps, the connectivity of intermediate meshes is dynamically changing and the mesh vertices are adaptively modified. The 2D control maps in parametric space that include curvature map, area deformation map and distance map, are used to schedule the inserting and deleting vertices in eac...

High-order Adaptive Method for Computing Two-dimensional Invariant Manifolds of Maps

We present efficient and accurate numerical methods for computing invariant manifolds of maps which arise in the study of dynamical systems. In order to decrease the number of points needed to compute a given surface, we propose using higher-order approximation techniques developed for the field of computer-aided geometric design (CAGD). We use Bézier curves and triangles, fundamental objects i...

On three-dimensional $N(k)$-paracontact metric manifolds and Ricci solitons

The aim of this paper is to characterize $3$-dimensional $N(k)$-paracontact metric manifolds satisfying certain curvature conditions. We prove that a $3$-dimensional $N(k)$-paracontact metric manifold $M$ admits a Ricci soliton whose potential vector field is the Reeb vector field $xi$ if and only if the manifold is a paraSasaki-Einstein manifold. Several consequences of this result are discuss...

On Projections in Geometric Design

We discuss using projected manifolds in geometric design and processing. Curves and surfaces are defined in n-space as algebraic sets of the appropriate dimensionality, and their projection into a three-dimensional subspace is considered. In this approach, the additional variables serve to express simply geometric constraints, and so complex surfaces such as offsets, equi-distance surfaces, rou...
