چکیده

Recently, Aceto, Fokkink & Ingólfsdóttir proposed an algorithm to turn any sound and ground-complete axiomatisation of any preorder listed in the linear time – branching time spectrum at least as coarse as the ready simulation preorder, into a sound and ground-complete axiomatisation of the corresponding equivalence—its kernel. Moreover, if the former axiomatisation is ω-complete, so is the latter. Subsequently, de Frutos Escrig, Gregorio Rodrı́guez & Palomino generalised this result, so that the algorithm is applicable to any preorder at least as coarse as the ready simulation preorder, provided it is initials preserving. The current paper shows that the same algorithm applies equally well to weak semantics: the proviso of initials preserving can be replaced by other conditions, such as weak initials preserving and satisfying the second τ -law. This makes it applicable to all 87 preorders surveyed in “the linear time – branching time spectrum II” that are at least as coarse as the ready simulation preorder. We also extend the scope of the algorithm to infinite processes, by adding recursion constants. As an application of both extensions, we provide a ground-complete axiomatisation of the CSP failures equivalence for BCCS processes with divergence.

Axiomatizing weak simulation semantics over BCCSP

This paper is devoted to the study of the (in)equational theory of the largest (pre)congruences over the language BCCSP induced by variations on the classic simulation preorder and equivalence that abstract from internal steps in process behaviours. In particular, the article focuses on the (pre)congruences associated with the weak simulation, the weak complete simulation and the weak ready sim...

Conjunction on Processes: Full-Abstraction Via Ready-Tree Semantics

A key problem in mixing operational (e.g., process-algebraic) and declarative (e.g., logical) styles of specification is how to deal with inconsistencies arising when composing processes under conjunction. This article introduces a conjunction operator on labelled transition systems capturing the basic intuition of “a and b = false”, and considers a naive preorder that demands that an inconsist...

On the Axiomatizability of Impossible Futures

A general method is established to derive a ground-complete axiomatization for a weak semantics from such an axiomatization for its concrete counterpart, in the context of the process algebra BCCS. This transformation moreover preserves ω-completeness. It is applicable to semantics at least as coarse as impossible futures semantics. As an application, groundand ω-complete axiomatizations are de...

Weak Semantics Based on Lighted Button Pressing Experiments An Alternative Characterization of the Readiness Semantics

Imposing certain restrictions on the transition system that deenes the behaviour of a process allows us to characterize the readiness semantics of OH86] by means of black{box testing experiments, or more precisely by lighted button testing experiments BM92]. As divergence is considered we give the semantics as a preorder, the readiness preorder, which kernel coincides with the readiness equival...

Ready to preorder: an algebraic and general proof

There have been quite a few proposals for behavioural equivalences for concurrent processes, and many of them are presented in Van Glabbeek’s linear timebranching time spectrum. Since their original definitions are based on rather different ideas, proving general properties of them all would seem to require a case-bycase study. However, the use of their axiomatizations allows a uniform treatmen...
