Investigating the spatial variability of the time-scaling properties in Italian seismicity
نویسنده
چکیده
Significant power-law long-range correlated structures have been identified in the Italian seismicity from 1983 to 2003. We performed the Allan Factor Analysis and the Detrended Fluctuation Analysis on both the full and the aftershock-depleted seismic data, extracted by the INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology) instrumental catalog. Our findings suggest that (i) the time-scaling behaviour characterizes mainly the Apennine chain; (ii) the timecorrelated behaviour of the seismicity is persistent, and this implies that the dynamics underlying the seismic phenomenology is characterized by the presence of “positive feedback mechanisms”; (iii) significant time correlation is not simply related with the mainshock/aftershock mechanisms.

Applying Spatial Geostatistical Analysis Models for Evaluating Variability of Soil Properties in Eastern Shiraz, Iran
ABSTRACT- The information on the spatial properties of soil is vital to improve soil management and to increase the crop productivity. Geostatistical analysis technique is one of the most important methods for determining the spatial properties of soil. The aim of this study was to investigate spatial variability of soil chemical and physical attributes for field management in eastern Shiraz, I...
متن کاملMagnitude and sign scaling in power-law correlated geoelectrical time series measured in southern Italy
Recently, it has been proposed a new method to investigate the linear/nonlinear properties of a time series by decomposing it into two sub-series: magnitude and sign sub-series (Ashkenazy et al., 2003). The long-range correlation properties of the magnitude and sign sub-series relate to nonlinear and linear behavior of the original time series respectively. We apply this method to the hourly ti...
متن کاملInfluence of In-Situ Scaling on Variability of Polluted Soil Erodibility Parameters
Middle and southern Iraq suffers from polluted soils due to crude oil, spilled on land, leakage from transmitting pipe networks, or petroleum products from refineries. Many researchers have studied pollution impacts on the soil in details, but there is a clear lack of investigation on the influence of crude oil on soil erodibility. Recent researches have investigated the influence of pollution ...

متن کاملSpatial variability of some soil properties for site specific farming in northern Iran
Evaluating agricultural land management practices requires knowledge of soil spatial variability and understanding their relationships. Spatial distributions for fourteen soil physical and chemical properties were examined in a wheat field in Sorkhankalateh district, in Golestan province, Iran. 101 soil samples at the distances of 5m, 10m and 20m as nested grid were collected at the depth of 0-...
