Active Appearance Models

چکیده
ÐWe describe a new method of matching statistical models of appearance to images. A set of model parameters control modes of shape and gray-level variation learned from a training set. We construct an efficient iterative matching algorithm by learning the relationship between perturbations in the model parameters and the induced image errors. Index TermsÐAppearance models, deformable templates, model matching.

Facial Features Matching using a Virtual Structuring Element
Face analysis in a real-world environment is a complex task as it should deal with challenging problems such as pose variations, illumination changes and complex backgrounds. The use of active appearance models for facial features detection is often successful in restricted environments, but the performance decreases when applied in unconstrained environments. Therefore, in this paper, we intro...
متن کاملStatistical Models of Appearance for Computer Vision 1
1 This is an ongoing draft of a report describing our work on Active Shape Models and Active Appearance Models. Hopefully it will be expanded to become more comprehensive, when I get the time. My apologies for the missing and incomplete sections and the inconsistancies in notation. TFC
متن کاملStatistical Models of Shape and Appearance
Many objects of interest in images can be represented as deformed versions of some average structure for instance faces, bones and many organs in medical images. This tutorial will describe methods of constructing statistical models of the variation in shape and appearance of such objects from annotated sets of examples. Two widely used matching methods, Active Shape Models and Active Appearanc...
متن کاملAdapted Active Appearance Models
Active Appearance Models (AAMs) are able to align efficiently known faces under duress, when face pose and illumination are controlled. We propose Adapted Active Appearance Models to align unknown faces in unknown poses and illuminations. Our proposal is based on the one hand on a specific transformation of the active model texture in an oriented map, which changes the AAM normalization process...
متن کاملGood Features to Track with Appearance Models
Parameterized Appearance Models (PAMs) (e.g. Eigentracking [2], active shape models [6], active appearance models [5, 12], morphable models [3, 11]) are commonly used to model the appearance and shape variation of objects in images. While PAMs have numerous advantages relative to alternative approaches, they have at least two drawbacks. First, they are especially prone to local minima in fittin...
