3D Reconstruction of Dynamic Scenes with Multiple Handheld Cameras

چکیده
Accurate dense 3D reconstruction of dynamic scenes from natural images is still very challenging. Most previous methods rely on a large number of fixed cameras to obtain good results. Some of these methods further require separation of static and dynamic points, which are usually restricted to scenes with known background. We propose a novel dense depth estimation method which can automatically recover accurate and consistent depth maps from the synchronized video sequences taken by a few handheld cameras. Unlike fixed camera arrays, our data capturing setup is much more flexible and easier to use. Our algorithm simultaneously solves bilayer segmentation and depth estimation in a unified energy minimization framework, which combines different spatiotemporal constraints for effective depth optimization and segmentation of static and dynamic points. A variety of examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

3D Reconstruction of Dynamic Scenes with Multiple Handheld Cameras Supplementary Material
Most previous methods such as [3, 1] simply enforced temporal coherence constraint individually on each single camera for depth refinement. Disparities of corresponding pixels across multiple frames were smoothed using linear interpolation or curve fitting. This optimization method is not robust as shown in Fig. 1(c), because a simple smoothing does not essentially help the inference of true di...

We present a method for augmenting the 3D reconstruction of a dynamic indoor scene using Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras. The system combines Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras with static wide field-of-view depth cameras within a networked platform. Traditionally, Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras have been extensively used in surveillance applications, since their ability to pan, tilt and zoom in on an object allows them to co...

Demand for high-quality 3D content has been exploding recently, owing to the advances in 3D displays and 3D printing. However, due to insufficient 3D content, the potential of 3D display and printing technology has not been realized to its full extent. Techniques for capturing the real world, which are able to generate 3D models from captured images or videos, are a hot research topic in comput...
