چکیده

INTRODUCTION A great deal of attention has been given in the last two decades to the oxidative photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants using TiO2 [1-7]. The photo-oxidation of As(III) to As(V) in aqueous solution and the influence of light intensity has not yet been extensively studied inspite of the fact that this reaction might be useful to enhance removal of arsenic from drinking water. This study focuses on surface-catalyzed As(III) oxidation by TiO2 and the influence of light intensity, pH, and TiO2 mineralogy (anatase and rutile) on reaction kinetics. In addition, the comparative adsorption behaviors of As(III) and As(V) on rutile and anatase, including the effect of solution pH, was investigated.

Photocatalytic oxidation of arsenic(III): evidence of hydroxyl radicals.

Arsenic contamination has been found in the groundwater of several countries. Photocatalysis can rapidly oxidize arsenite (As(III)) to less labile and less toxic arsenate (As(V)), which then can be removed by adsorption onto photocatalyst surfaces. This study investigates the photocatalytic oxidation of As(III) to As(V) as a function of As(III) concentration, pH, catalyst loading, light intensi...

TiO2-photocatalyzed As(II) oxidation in aqueous suspensions: reaction kinetics and effects of adsorption.

Oxidation of arsenite, As(III), to arsenate, As(V), is required for the efficient removal of arsenic by many water treatment technologies. The photocatalyzed oxidation of As(III) on titanium dioxide, TiO2, offers an environmentally benign method for this unit operation. In this study, we explore the efficacy and mechanism of TiO2-photocatalyzed As(III) oxidation at circumneutral pH and over a r...

Photo catalytic removal of Toluene vapor from air in the Adsorption-Photo catalytic bed

Background and aims: Clean air is one of the most important components of health and sustainable development. Every person breathes about 10 kg of air per day and if it contains pollutants, it will have a serious impact on their health. Indoor air quality (IAQ) is one of the major health issues that have been addressed in recent years with changes in lifestyle patterns. Usually, due to the incr...

Efficiently Visible-Light Driven Photoelectrocatalytic Oxidation of As(III) at Low Positive Biasing Using Pt/TiO2 Nanotube Electrode

A constant current deposition method was selected to load highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on TiO2 nanotubes in this paper, to extend the excited spectrum range of TiO2-based photocatalysts to visible light. The morphology, elemental composition, and light absorption capability of as-obtained Pt/TiO2 nanotubes electrodes were characterized by FE-SEM, energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), X-ray...
