Optically stimulated luminescence in synthetic quartz

چکیده
Optically stiniulated luminescence (OSL). has been studied in synthetic quartz crystals. which had previously been exposed to Jtor X-irradiations. The main emission hands appeared at 380 and -~440 nm. The excitation spectra of these emission bands were now measured and showed both a maximum at 330nm. This maximum coincides with an excitation maximum of the phototransferred thermoluminescence (PTTL), indicating that the OSL and PTTL are due to the same traps. The emission intensities were found to depend linearly on the intensity of the stimulating 330 nm light, as well as on the dose of the /1or X-irradiation over a wide range of doses. The results support the possibility of applying OSL in quartz for dosimetry and dating.

Violet stimulated luminescence: geo- or thermochronometer?
The method of quartz optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating is widely used, but generally limited to the past ~0.1 million years (Ma) due to early saturation of the desired signal. Violet stimulated luminescence (VSL) of quartz has previously been shown as a promising alternative, with a dose saturation level ~20 times higher compared to that of OSL, excellent thermal stability on the 1...

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating of light-exposed sediments is used increasingly as a mean of establishing a sediment deposition chronology in a wide variety of late Quaternary studies. There has been considerable technological development in the last few years – in instrumentation, in the preferred mineral, and in various measurement protocols. New approaches to the latter, espec...

We have investigated an optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating study in the Nimbluk lakebed in Khorasan, northeast Iran. Two samples of the lake-bed sediments from ~1 m below the land surface are successfully dated at 7.3-9.9 ka. All necessary experiments have been performed to choose the most suitable procedure for dating quartz extracts using single aliquot regeneration method (SAR). ...
متن کاملLuminescence, Geomorphological Processes
Definition Geomorphology is the science that studies the origin and development of landforms and how those landforms combine to form landscapes. Landforms are shaped by geomorphological processes, many of which involve the weathering, erosion, transportation, and deposition of surface materials (rock, sediment) by gravity, ice, wind, or water. Both erosional and depositional landforms can be id...
