Corrosion Steel Inspection under Steel Plate Using Pulsed Eddy Current Testing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pulsed eddy current inspection techniques were derived from the conventional eddy current testing technology, based on the fundamental principle of an eddy current coil, but using periodic ultrasound pulses. The authors first introduce the principle of pulsed eddy current inspection and some experimental measurement results using pulsed eddy current equipment. This technology can be applied to the field of impedance measurement.

Gas Pipeline Corrosion Mapping Using Pulsed Eddy Current Technique
Oil and gas transmission pipelines are critical items of infrastructure in providing energy sources to regions and countries. Steel pipes are commonly used which can be subject to both internal and external corrosion. This paper presents an advanced nondestructive inspection technique for detection of oil-gas pipeline corrosion defect. The Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) method has been successfully ...
متن کاملEddy current measurements with magneto-resistive sensors: Third-layer flaw detection in a wing-splice structure 25 mm thick
A new eddy-current system based on low-noise magnetoresistive sensors has been developed to detect cracks and corrosion in thick, multi-layer metal structures. The new instrument has detected narrow slots as short as 6.3 mm, in the lowest layer of a stack of three aluminum plates totaling 25 mm in thickness. These flaws were detected through 19 mm of overlying aluminum, in spite of the presence...
متن کاملDetection of Thickness Variation in Steel using Pulse Eddy Current Technique in Time Domain
In contrast to single frequency conventional eddy current technique (ECT), in pulse ECT the coil is excited by repetitive broadband pulse. The pulsed excitation contains wide spectrum of frequencies. Each frequency has different penetrability and hence using pulsed eddy current (PEC) technique, large areas of structure with multiple variations in thickness can be scanned without the need for pa...
متن کاملDevelopment of Pulsed Eddy Current Testing System for Wall Thinning through Insulation with Ferromagnetic Cladding
Corrosion is one of the important factors in equipment failures. Wall thinning can be used to evaluate corrosion conditions. However, most of equipments are coated with insulations in order to elevate the energy efficiency. Pulsed eddy current (PEC) testing technique can be used to measure wall thinning through insulation. But when the insulation outside is wrapped with galvanized steel, PEC si...
متن کاملDesign of Nondestructive System for Hardness of Carbonitrided Steel Parts Using Eddy Current Testing Method: Case study on the Tappet Parts
In this paper, a non-destructive eddy current test system was designed to evaluate the surface hardness of the carbonitrided steel parts. For this purpose, various samples of the tappet were used after the surface hardening and grinding operations as control samples and, if necessary, were subjected to destructive and non-destructive tests. Microstructural studies were performed with a microsco...
