چکیده
Background/introduction MR temperature mapping based on the proton resonance frequency (PRF) shift is used in MR-guided focused ultrasound procedures for dosimetry and safety monitoring. While conventional PRF-shift thermometry is based on calculating a phase difference between two reconstructed MR images, Gaur et al [1,2] have recently described two algorithms that estimate temperatureinduced phase shifts directly from MR k-space data, prior to image reconstruction. The approach enables

Proton-resonance frequency shift MR thermometry is affected by changes in the electrical conductivity of tissue.
The proton-resonance frequency (PRF) shift method of MR thermometry provides an easy and practical means of quantitatively monitoring in vivo temperatures for MR image-guided thermal-coagulation therapy. However, reported discrepancies in the numerical value of the PRF-thermal coefficient persist, when measured in a variety of experimental conditions and in different tissue types, both ex vivo ...

Of the various techniques employed to quantify temperature changes by MR, proton resonance frequency (PRF) shift-based phase-difference imaging (PDI) is the most accurate and widely used. However, PDI is associated with various artifacts. Motivated by these limitations, we developed a new method to monitor temperature changes by MRI using the balanced steady-state free precession (balanced-SSFP...

Introduction Proton resonance frequency (PRF)-shift MR thermometry is a promising tool for guiding thermal therapies in the treatment of liver tumors and heart arrhythmias, but is complicated by organ motion and respiration. To address motion, multi-baseline subtraction techniques have been proposed [1,2] that use a library of pre-treatment baseline images covering the cardiac and respiratory c...
متن کاملMR temperature imaging using PRF phase difference and a geometric model-based fat suppression method.
BACKGROUND Because protons in fat do not exhibit a temperature-dependent frequency shift, proton resonance frequency shift (PRFS)-based MR thermometry always suffers from disturbances due to the presence of fats or lipids. OBJECTIVE A new fat suppression method for PRFS-based MR thermometry is proposed to obtain accurate variation of phase angle. METHODS Similar to the approach of separatin...
متن کاملReference-less MR Thermometry Using Iteratively-Reweighted L1 Regression
Introduction Proton resonance frequency(PRF-) shift MR thermometry is a promising tool for monitoring thermal therapies. In PRF-shift thermometry, maps of relative temperature changes are estimated by subtracting image phase in a pretreatment (baseline) state from image phase in a heated state. Baseline phase can be obtained from a pretreatment image, however, this approach is sensitive to moti...
