چکیده

BACKGROUND Among the vascular involvements of Takayasu arteritis, a supra-valvular aortic stenosis has been reported very rarely. We report a case of surgically corrected, supra-valvular aortic stenosis caused by Takayasu arteritis. CASE PRESENTATION A 32-year-old female was diagnosed with supra-valvular aortic stenosis by transthoracic echocardiography for the evaluation of cardiac murmur with constitutional symptoms. Under the impression of non-familial sporadic type of supra-valvular aortic stenosis, surgical correction was performed. However, after 1 year from the operation, we could know the cause of her disease through the findings of computed tomographic aortography that Takayasu arteritis was suspected. CONCLUSIONS Takayasu arteritis should be considered in adult female patients presenting supra-valvular aortic stenosis with constitutional symptoms, even if no typical features of vascular involvement.

Multiple supra-aortic stenting for Takayasu arteritis: extensive revascularization and two-year follow-up.

A patient with Takayasu arteritis with multiple supra-aortic lesions underwent successful treatment with two-staged stent implantation. Stenotic bilateral common carotid, innominate, and left subclavian arteries were dilated, and no restenosis was observed during the follow-up period of 2 years despite recurrent inflammation. Stenting for supra-aortic vessels in cases of Takayasu arteritis has ...

The Utility of MRI in the Diagnosis of Takayasu Arteritis

Takayasu Arteritis (TA) is an inflammatory disorder involving the thoracoabdominal aorta and its branches and the pulmonary arteries, with eventual vascular stenosis, occlusion, or aneurysm formation. Conventional angiography has been the reference imaging standard for diagnosis of TA. The purpose of this case report is to demonstrate the utility of MR imaging and MR angiography in the diagnosi...

A case report of Takayasu arteritis with aortic dissection as initial presentation

RATIONALE The initial symptoms and signs of Takayasu arteritis vary due to the heterogeneity of affected vessels. Moreover, the vascular lesions are difficult to detect at initial presentation, making diagnosis even more challenging. Although cases of aortic dissection with arteritis history have been reported, Takayasu arteritis in men with aortic dissection as initial presentation is very rar...

[Atypical aortic coarctation in adult patients undergoing percutaneous stent implantation].

“Atypical” aortic coarctation (AAC) is a rare clinical entity that includes involvement of the ascending thoracic aorta, the descending thoracic aorta distal to the aortic isthmus, and the abdominal aorta. Abdominal aortic coarctation is present in 1% to 2% of all patients with aortic coarctation and is an unusual cause of essential hypertension in adults. AAC is caused by focal stenosis or a h...

Takayasu arteritis presenting with internal carotid artery dissection.

Discussion Our patient fulfills all the American College of Rheumatology criteria for TA [5] , and vessel vasculitis was histologically proven. Arterial dissection in TA is rare [2, 6] , with few reports of aortic dissection [7] and only one report of ICA dissection [8] . In our patient, at the moment of ICA dissection, all the other aortic archs and their branches were angiographically normal ...
