A number of topology generators have emerged which attempt to generate topologies which follow the power laws discovered in Internet topologies but don’t consider the causes of the power laws. They tend to concentrate on creating a topology that follows the power laws on a macroscopic scale. In this paper we present a generalisation of a topology generator which emulates microscopic network growth decisions to generate macro-scale topologies which may follow power-laws. The microscopic decisions are examined further and their effect on the macroscopic result demonstrated. The design of these schemes and the possible impact of the underlying transport network is also briefly considered.

Optimal Coordination of Distance and Directional Overcurrent Relays Considering Different Network Topologies
Most studies in relay coordination have focused solely on coordination of overcurrent relays while distance relays are used as the main protection of transmission lines. Since, simultaneous coordination of these two types of relays can provide a better protection, in this paper, a new approach is proposed for simultaneous coordination of distance and directional overcurrent relays (D&DOCRs). Al...
متن کاملCorrelation between IP and Rs and grade data in modeling and evaluation of a copper deposit, case study: the Sarbisheh copper deposit, Iran
This paper addresses the application of integrated chargeability and resistivity method and grade data in modeling and evaluation of copper deposits. We argue that the relationship between IP, Rs and grade data may be used for modeling and reserve estimation and tested this argument for Sarbisheh copper deposit that is located in eastern Iran. Geology and mineralization situation of Sarbisheh d...
متن کاملModelling the Reliability of Ring Topology IP Micro Mobility Networks
The telecommunications, computer sciences and media of today seem to converge to an all IP network. Not only IP backbone will be used but also IP access networks. At the same time there is an increasing need for mobility. MobileIP cannot provide fast handovers in an always-on scenario. Therefore IP micro mobility solutions are needed. IP micro mobility networks have several special requirements...
متن کاملSplayNet: Distributed User-Space Topology Emulation
Network emulation allows researchers to test distributed applications on diverse topologies with fine control over key properties such as delays, bandwidth, congestion, or packet loss. Current approaches to network emulation require using dedicated machines and low-level operating system support. They are generally limited to one user deploying a single topology on a given set of nodes, and the...
متن کاملSimple models and their limits for TCP/IP network analysis and dimensioning
The analysis and the design of TCP/IP networks is a key component of the development of the Internet. In this paper we consider how simple analytic modelling of the key network elements can yield suÆciently accurate performance results by means of simulations with actual TCP sources. The de ned modelling approach, named the Fixed Point Model, is exploited to state a dimensioning problem of an I...
