چکیده

We report a 40-GHz harmonically and regeneratively FM mode-locked erbium fiber laser with a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit operating in the 1.6 m region. The oscillation wavelength was extended to the L-band by using a 15 m erbium-doped fiber with an Er concentration of 3500 ppm as a gain medium. As a result, a 770 fs transform-limited Gaussian pulse with a 14 mW output power was successfully generated with a timing jitter as low as 88 fs. The wavelength is tunable over 20 nm between 1583 and 1603 nm.

Sub-100 fs mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser using a 45°-tilted fiber grating.

We demonstrate generation of sub-100 fs pulses at 1.5 µm in a mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser using a 45°-tilted fiber grating element. The laser features a genuine all-fiber configuration. Based on the unique polarization properties of the 45°-tilted fiber grating, we managed to produce sub-100 fs laser pulses through proper dispersion management. To the best of our knowledge, this is the...

Stable multigigahertz pulse-train formation in a short-cavity passively harmonic mode-locked erbium/ytterbium fiber laser.

We demonstrate a short-cavity erbium-ytterbium fiber laser that is passively mode locked by a saturable Bragg reflector with a fundamental repetition rate of 235 MHz . The laser operates in the soliton regime and under passive harmonic mode locking with 11 pulses in the cavity and produces output pulse trains at 2.6 GHz with transform-limited 270-fs pulses and 1.6 mW of average power. Within th...

Frequency detuning properties of EDFL pulses generated by harmonic mode-locking and regenerative amplification: a comparison

We compare the frequency detuning properties of optical pulses generated from erbium-doped fiber lasers (EDFL's) by using harmonic mode-locking and regenerative amplification techniques. The frequency detuning range of regeneratively amplified pulse (17.78 kHz) is wider than that of harmonic mode-locked pulses (7 kHz). The regeneratively amplidied EDFL pulse has a smaller pulsewidth (22ps), a h...

Passively mode-locked erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser operating at the 322nd harmonic.

We report passive mode locking of a soliton erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser operating at the 322nd harmonic of the fundamental cavity frequency. Repetition rates up to 3 GHz have been obtained with pulses of 1 ps duration and 18 pJ of energy. The supermode suppression at the 322nd harmonic is better than 25 dB. In addition, the transition dynamics from a bunched state of pulses to stable h...

70-fs mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser with topological insulator

Femtosecond optical pulses have applications in optical communication, astronomical frequency combs, and laser spectroscopy. Here, a hybrid mode-locked erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser with topological insulator (TI) is proposed, for the first time to our best knowledge. The pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method is employed to fabricate the fiber-taper TI saturable absorber (TISA). By virtue of th...
