چکیده
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The aim of this study is to analyze and compare the early complications and recurrent results of Z-plasty, Limberg flap, and asymmetric modified Limberg flap both demographically and clinically. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between March 2009 and February 2010, a total of 45 patients with pilonidal sinus were enrolled in this study. 10 of 45 patients (22.2%) required Z-plasty; 24 patients (53.3%) had surgery with Limberg flap closure, and 11 patients (24.4%) had asymmetric modified Limberg flap. RESULTS A total of 45 patients were included in the study (mean age: 23.36 > +/- 3.4 (range, 20-33) years). When we compared duration of operation and the length of stay in hospital, no statistically significant findings were detected (p = 0.595 and p = 0.23, respectively). The mean follow-up was 22.4 (range, 18-24) months. Recurrence was not seen in any of the patients. CONCLUSIONS Our results were similar: the comparison of the three techniques revealed no significant differences regarding early complications and recurrence.

Limberg flap treatment results in pilonidal sinus disease
Introduction: Pilonidal sinus disease is a chronic disease of sacrococcygeal region which is caused due to growth on hair in intergluteal region causing foreign body reaction and abscess formation. Different procedures are used to treat this condition surgically, which have their own complications, and recurrence rate. Rhomboid excision with Limberg flap is a method with minimal complicat...

PURPOSE Although there are several surgical methods for treatment of sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus, there is no widespread consensus. In this study, we aimed to compare primary closure, Limberg, and modified Limberg flap techniques, with each performed by each of 3 surgeons. METHODS A total of 802 patients who were operated on for pilonidal sinus disease were included in this retrospective c...

OBJECTIVE Sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus is common in young men and may recur over time after surgery. We investigated whether a factor exists that can aid in the determination of the preferred technique between the early Limberg flap and Karydakis flap techniques for treating recurrent pilonidal sinus. MATERIALS AND METHODS This prospective and randomized study enrolled 71 patients with recu...

Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) is a common chronic, benign disease of young adulthood. Pilonidal disease is an infection under the skin in the gluteal cleft. Pilonidal literally means a „„nest of hair”. Known risk factors include family history, local trauma, sedentary occupation, and obesity. متن کاملUse of Limberg flap for pilonidal sinus--a viable option.
BACKGROUND Pilonidal sinus disease has been treated for a long time with conventional open excision technique. The rhomboid flap of Limberg is a transposition flap that has been pleaded for treatment of this condition. METHODS We present our experience with the Limberg technique for both primary and recurrent pilonidal sinuses. One hundred and ten patients, with pilonidal sinus disease were t...
