The penalized Fischer-Burmeister SOC complementarity function

چکیده
In this paper, we study the properties of the penalized Fischer-Burmeister (FB) second-order cone (SOC) complementarity function. We show that the function possesses similar desirable properties of the FB SOC complementarity function for local convergence; for example, with the function the second-order cone complementarity problem (SOCCP) can be reformulated as a (strongly) semismooth system of equations, and the corresponding nonsmooth Newton method has local quadratic convergence without strict complementarity The author’s work is supported by National Young Natural Science Foundation (No. 10901058) and Guangdong Natural Science Foundation (No. 9251802902000001). A penalized Fischer-Burmeister NCP-function
We introduce a new NCP-function in order to reformulate the nonlinear complementarity problem as a nonsmooth system of equations. This new NCP-function turns out to have stronger theoretical properties than the widely used Fischer-Burmeister function and other NCP-functions suggested previously. Moreover, numerical experience indicates that a semismooth Newton method based on this new NCP-funct...
متن کاملThe SC1 property of the squared norm of the SOC Fischer-Burmeister function
We show that the gradient mapping of the squared norm of Fischer-Burmeister function is globally Lipschitz continuous and semismooth, which provides a theoretical basis for solving nonlinear second order cone complementarity problems via the conjugate gradient method and the semismooth Newton’s method.
متن کاملStrong Semismoothness of the Fischer-Burmeister SDC and SOC Complementarity Functions
We show that the Fischer-Burmeister complementarity functions, associated to the semidefinite cone (SDC) and the second order cone (SOC), respectively, are strongly semismooth everywhere. Interestingly enough, the proof stems in a relationship between the singular value decomposition of a nonsymmetric matrix and the spectral decomposition of a symmetric matrix.
متن کاملSolution of Nonsmooth Generalized Complementarity Problems
We consider an unconstrained minimization reformulation of the generalized complementarity problem GCP(f, g) when the underlying functions f and g are H-differentiable. We describe H-differentials of some GCP functions based on the min function and the penalized Fischer-Burmeister function, and their merit functions. Under appropriate semimonotone (E0), strictly semimonotone (E) regularity-cond...
متن کاملA Penalized Fischer - Burmeister Ncp - Function : Theoretical Investigation and Numerical Results 1
We introduce a new NCP-function that reformulates a nonlinear com-plementarity problem as a system of semismooth equations (x) = 0. The new NCP-function possesses all the nice properties of the Fischer-Burmeister function for local convergence. In addition, its natural merit function (x) = 1 2 (x) T (x) has all the nice features of the Kanzow-Yamashita-Fukushima merit function for global conver...
