DIS2014, June 21–25, 2014, Vancouver, Canada. Abstract Designers use simulation tools to predict the energy usage of the buildings. Building inhabitants use personal knowledge to control buildings. Post occupancy evaluation reveals that there is a vast difference between the predicted energy consumption and the actual energy usage. The literature clearly identifies that how inhabitants use buildings has a large impact on the energy consumption in all buildings. How do inhabitants’ use buildings? How do inhabitants interact with and control buildings, including their elements and systems? This research explores inhabitant interaction by providing Light Weight Look Ahead Options (LWLAO) a quick simulation of possible inhabitant interaction to predict how personal choised impact comfort and energy consumption in buildings. We describe the research problem, the system design (LWLAO) and design methods in this paper.

A Web Document Personalization User Model and System
In this paper, we present PVA, an adaptive personal view information agent system to track, learn and manage user interests in the Internet documents. PVA consists of three parts: proxy, personal view constructor and personal view maintainer. Proxy logs user’s activities and extracts user interests without user intervention. Personal view constructor mines user interests and maps them to a clas...
متن کاملSupporting Human Memory with Interactive Systems Workshop at the 2007 British HCI Conference
The major goal of this workshop is to explore how interactive systems can support human memory, using novel technologies and innovative human/machine interaction paradigms, such as tangible interaction. We believe this is important since memory and attention are becoming critical resources for our wellness, e.g. with regard to a continuously increasing information overload. The goal of this wor...

Abstract The extensive digital archives of personal data that we collect over the period of a lifetime can support new ways of autobiographical storytelling. Autobiographical visualizations are visual representations based on these reposi...
متن کاملDesigning in Skills Nurturing Personal Engagement in Design
Potentialities of skills in design are intriguing. Skills open up new perceptions of the world, transform human understanding and engagement with the world itself. Our explorations suggest that leveraging existing designer's skills and training for new skills might remarkably contribute in designing for richness of meaning. We developed several skills-based techniques and validated them through...
متن کاملThe Interaction Effects of Montmorillonite and Glycerol on the Properties of Polyvinyl Alcohol-montmorillonite Films
Background and Objectives: Preparation and evaluation of nanocomposite films have become prevalent in recent years. Depending on the purpose of using the film, and considering the effects and interaction effects of nanomaterial and other modifiers on the film properties, the amounts of nanomaterials and modifiers should be optimized. The effects of montmorillonite (MMT), glycerol (GL), and thei...
