چکیده

The article by Thieblemont and colleagues very nicely summarizes the key pathogenetic and diagnostic features and present treatment of splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL). This histologic subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma has evolved from being an unrecognized entity in earlier classification systems (such as the Working Formulation[1]), to a provisional entity in the Revised European/American Lymphoma (REAL) classification,[2] and finally to a fully recognized distinct clinicopathologic entity in the World Health Organization (WHO) classification system.[3] The WHO classification system separates marginal zone B-cell lymphomas into three clinically distinct subtypes: nodal marginal zone lymphomas, extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT lymphomas), and SMZL.

Systemic Mastocytosis Associated with Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma with Villous Lymphocytes

The development of a second haematological disease during the course of systemic mastocytosis is a well-known phenomenon. In most of the cases, they consist of myelodysplasia or myeloproliferative disorders. The association with lymphoproliferative disorders has also been described, but it is uncommon and the relationship is not well established. We report a patient diagnosed with systemic mast...

The management of nongastric MALT lymphomas.

The group of marginal zone B-cell lymphomas (MZL) comprises three different entities, extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (currently called MALT lymphoma), nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (previously known as monocytoid lymphoma), and splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (with or without circulating villous lymphocytes).[1-3] Primary splenic and no...

Marginal zone-related neoplasms of splenic and nodal origin.

BACKGROUND The marginal zone is an anatomically distinct B-cell compartment of lymphoid tissue with an abundant antigenic influx. Among marginal zone-derived lymphomas the WHO classification listed, in addition to extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of MALT type, two other marginal zone B-cell neoplasms: splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (+/- villous lymphocytes) and nodal marginal zon...

Tumor progression with increase of blasti...
