چکیده

With the emergence of Just-in-Time manufacturing, production control mechanisms that react rapidly to actual occurrences of demand are gaining importance. Several pull type control mechanisms have been proposed to date, but it is usually di$cult to quantify how good these mechanisms are, as well as understanding the structural properties that make them desirable. By using a two stage model and an optimal control framework, we study some of these issues here. Our framework permits quantifying the performance of classical mechanisms such as base stock and kanban and more complex mechanisms such as generalized and extended kanban. We also analyze the tradeo!s between single versus multiple control points and service level constraints on the backorders. ( 2000 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Re-examining the Performance of Mrp and Kanban Material Control Strategies for Multi-product Flexible Manufacturing Systems

Material control schemes can be classified as push, pull, or hybrid strategies. This paper compares the performance of MRP (push) and kanban (pull) for a multi-stage, multiproduct manufacturing system. Using simulation experiments we analyze system performance under different product mixes and observe that in certain environments with advance demand information kanban-based pull strategies can ...

A simulation analysis of controlling rules for flexible pull systems

The pull-type manufacturing system is known for its need for a frozen schedule, balanced workload and inability to handle fluctuations in demand. But today’s research and development are addressing the ways to handle a pull-type system to accommodate greater fluctuations. One approach is to design the system with greater routing flexibility in that flexible machines and multiple part types are ...

Selvaraj: Simulation Modeling of Single Line Multi Stage Manufacturing System

Present study compares performance of proposed model [Hybrid Extended Kanban Control System (HEKCS)], with Extended Kanban Control System (EKCS) and Constant Work In Process (CONWIP) in a single line and multi stage manufacturing system with or without effect of machine breakdown. It was observed that, when demand rate increases, throughput, average WIP and utilization% also gradually increases...

Effect of aging and manufacturing tolerances on multi-stage transonic axial compressor performance

The Axial compressor is an integrated part of a gas turbine. The central part of compressors is its blades. Blade aerodynamic has a significant effect on compressor performance. Because of the adverse pressure gradient in the compressor, any deviation in the blade profile has a significant influence on the flow field as well as the compressor performance. During the manufacturing and operation ...

Optimization of the Kinematic Sensitivity and the Greatest Continuous Circle in the Constant-orientation Workspace of Planar Parallel Mechanisms

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive study on the efficiency of planar parallel mechanisms, considering their kinetostatic performance and also, their workspace. This aim is approached upon proceeding single- and multi-objective optimization procedures. Kinetostatic performances of ten different planar parallel mechanisms are analyzed by resorting to a recent index, kinematic sens...
