Forensic Investigations to Document a Doping Case Involving 19-norsteroids
نویسنده
چکیده
Nandrolone or 19-nortestosterone, or 17ß-hydroxy-19-nor-4-androsten-3-one, has been one of the most abused anabolic steroids and doping practices are increasing, as revealed by numerous positive cases during the last 5 years in various sports. The drug accelerates muscle growth by an anabolic effect. Athletes use nandrolone because it has been claimed that it increases lean body mass, increases strength, increases aggressiveness and leads to a shorter recovery time between workouts.

PROJECT REVIEW “Analysis of 19-Norsteroids, Testosterone and Precursors Metabolites
Detecting the use of androgenic anabolic steroids, potentially endogenous in humans, and which are prohibited substances in sport doping control programmes, still represents a major challenge to the analysts. These steroids include testosterone, its precursors androstenedione and dehydroepiandrosterone, and the 19-norsteroids equivalents, some of which are commercially available for oral self-a...
متن کاملImplementation of Digital Forensics Investigations Using a Goal-Driven Approach for a Questioned Contract
This paper introduces a new systematic process for describing digital investigations that focuses on forensic goals and anti-forensic obstacles and their operationalisation in terms of human and software actions. The main contribution of the paper is to demonstrate how this process can be used to capture the various forensic and anti-forensic aspects of a real world case study involving documen...

BACKGROUND The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is introducing enhancements to doping investigations in its 2015 Code, which include improved sharing of information between antidoping organisations (including sporting bodies) and enhanced accountability of athlete support staff. These additions will improve the control of links between sports doping and organised crime. In February 2013 the Aust...
متن کاملSubject-based semantic document clustering for digital forensic investigations
Computers are increasingly used as tools to commit crimes such as unauthorized access (hacking), drug trafficking, and child pornography. The proliferation of crimes involving computers has created a demand for special forensic tools that allow investigators to look for evidence on a suspect’s computer by analyzing communications and data on the computer’s storage devices. Motivated by the fore...
متن کاملA Decade Revisited - Forensic and Clinical Applications of Hair Testing.
Hair testing for metals in clinical and forensic applications began in the 1950s whereas drugs of abuse testing in hair did not begin until the early 1980s. Hair testing has continued to develop as indicated by the publication of more than 300 scientific manuscripts focusing on applications of hair analysis in the past 10 years alone. This review describes many disciplines of hair testing cited...
