چکیده
Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted in urban areas by Aedes aegypti. After an incubation period of 2 to 7 days, dengue fever begins with abrupt onset of fever, chills and headache. A transient macular rash may also be observed which usually resolves spontaneously. Complications of dengue fever are common and usually related to renal and hepatic dysfunction1,2. Encephalopathy and encephalitis are rare. We present a child with dengue encephalitis.

Dengue-Associated Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome, Vietnam
Dengue can cause neurologic complications in addition to the more common manifestations of plasma leakage and coagulopathy. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome has rarely been described in dengue, although the pathophysiology of endothelial dysfunction likely underlies both. We describe a case of dengue-associated posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome and discuss diagnosis and m...
متن کاملSpectrum of Neurological Manifestations of Dengue in India
In order to detect the range of neurological manifestations, patients with dengue virus infection admitted to neurology service were subjected to detailed clinical evaluation, i.e. blood counts, serum chemistry, electrolytes, creatine kinase (CK), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nerve conduction study (NCS) and electromyography (EMG). Out of 24 patients with dengue virus infection aged 5–65 y...

Dengue fever is the most important arboviral infection in the world, with an estimated 100 million cases per year and 2.5 billion people at risk. Encephalopathy is a rare complication of dengue virus infection and may occur as a consequence of intracranial hemorrhage, cerebral edema, hyponatremia, cerebral anoxia, fulminant hepatic failure with portosystemic encephalopathy, microcapillary hemor...
متن کاملDescriptive epidemiology of dengue transmission in Uttar Pradesh.
We report epidemiology of dengue infection as revealed through a hospital based surveillance for dengue infection over a 3 year period in Lucknow, U.P., India. In 2003-2005, children with acute febrile encephalopathy (AFE) and in 2005-2006, children with acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) were enrolled. IgM antibodies to dengue were tested by ELISA in acute serum. A total of 118/563 ...
