Fitting a woven-cloth model to a curved surface: mapping algorithms
نویسندگان
چکیده
The problem of tting a 2D broadcloth composite ply (modelled as a piece of deformable woven cloth) onto a 3D curved surface (modelled with a NURBS surface) is considered. \Fitting" means that a ply is deformed and applied to a surface so that it is everywhere in contact with the surface. A tting method is presented that incorporates a exible method for specifying initial conditions, and allows for the simulation of a wide range of tting con gurations.

Fitting a woven cloth model to a curved surface: dart insertion
Woven cloth composite materials have been extensively used to reinforce the structures of automobiles and the airframes of aircraft. It is well-known that a woven cloth composite \ply" has the capability of tting to fairly complex geometries. Fitting here means that a ply is deformed and applied to a 3D surface in such a way that it is in contact everywhere with the surface. However, it is not ...
متن کاملFreeform surface flattening based on fitting a woven mesh model
This paper presents a robust and efficient surface flattening approach based on fitting a woven-like mesh model on a 3D freeform surface. The fitting algorithm is based on tendon node mapping (TNM) and diagonal node mapping (DNM), where TNM determines the position of a new node on the surface along the warp or weft direction and DNM locates a node along the diagonal direction. During the 3D fit...
متن کاملA Simple, Accurate Texture Model for Woven Cotton Cloth
Cotton cloth is a commonly encountered material in everyday life, and a realistic model for its appearance is needed for rendering clothing and environments in many computer graphics applications. For realism it is important to produce the correct texture when the pattern of threads is resolved in the image, but cloth must also be rendered efficiently in more distant views when the thread patte...
متن کاملSimulation of Tearing Cloth with Frayed Edges
Woven cloth can commonly be seen in daily life and also in animation. Unless prevented in some way, woven cloth usually frays at the edges. However, in computer graphics, woven cloth is typically modeled as a continuum sheet, which is not suitable for representing frays. This paper proposes a model that allows yarn movement and slippage during cloth tearing. Drawing upon techniques from textile...
متن کاملA Particle Model based on Measured Mechanical Properties of Woven Cloth
Even though a particle model based on the mechanical properties of woven cloth has been proposed by Breen et al[l], there are problems to describe cloth behavior precisely and reflect cloth dynamics. In this paper, we describe a precise relationship between measured mechanical properties of cloth and the particle model. Moreover, a collision model describing the rotation as well as move of part...
