Shape and Appearance based Spatiotemporal Constraint for LV Segmentation in 4D cardiac SPECT

چکیده
We propose a novel shape and appearance based spatiotemporal constraint and combine it with a level set based deformable model, which can be used for Left Ventricle segmentation in 4D gated cardiac SPECT, particularly in the presence of perfusion defects. The model incorporates appearance in addition to shape information into a soft-tohard probabilistic constraint, and utilizes spatiotemporal regularization via a Maximum A Posteriori framework. This constraint force allows more flexibility than the rigid forces of shape constraint-only schemes, as well as other state-of-the-art joint shape and appearance constraints. We present comparative results to illustrate the improvement gain.

Shape and appearance priors for level set-based left ventricle segmentation
The authors propose a novel spatiotemporal constraint based on shape and appearance and combine it with a level-set deformable model for left ventricle (LV) segmentation in four-dimensional gated cardiac SPECT, particularly in the presence of perfusion defects. The model incorporates appearance and shape information into a ‘soft-to-hard’ probabilistic constraint, and utilises spatiotemporal reg...
متن کاملSpace and Time Shape Constrained
The aim of this work is to automatically extract quantitative parameters from time sequences of 3D images (4D images) suited to heart pathology diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a framework for the reconstruction of the left ventricle motion from 4D images based on 4D deformable surface models. These 4D models are represented as a time sequence of 3D meshes whose deformation are correlated d...
متن کاملSpace and Time Shape Constrained Deformable Surfaces for 4D Medical Image Segmentation
The heart motion study is vital for the understanding and the early diagnosis of cardiac pathologies that remain the primary cause of death in western countries to date. Heart motion analysis require the extraction of quantitative parameters from time sequences of 3D images (4D images) such as volume, sep-tum wall thickness, ejection fraction and motion amplitude. In this paper, we propose a fr...
متن کامل4D deformable models with temporal constraints: application to 4D cardiac image segmentation
Segmentation of time series of 3D cardiac images is clinically used for the assessment of the mechanical function of the left ventricle. To take into account the 4D (3D+T) nature of those images, we propose to extend the deformable surface framework by introducing time-dependent constraints. Thus, in addition to computing an internal force for enforcing the regularity of the deformable model, p...
متن کاملEffects of motion, attenuation, and scatter corrections on gated cardiac SPECT reconstruction.
PURPOSE In gated cardiac single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), image reconstruction is often hampered by various degrading factors including depth-dependent spatial blurring, attenuation, scatter, motion blurring, and low data counts. Consequently, there has been significant development in image reconstruction methods for improving the quality of reconstructed images. The goal of ...
