چکیده

The classical, thermally driven transition in the dipolar-coupled Ising ferromagnet LiHoF 4 sTc 1.53 Kd can be converted into a quantum transition driven by a transverse magnetic field Ht at T 0. The transverse field, applied perpendicular to the Ising axis, introduces channels for quantum relaxation, thereby depressing Tc . We have determined the phase diagram in the Ht-T plane via magnetic susceptibility measurements. The critical exponent, g 1, has a mean-field value in both the classical and quantum limits. A solution of the full mean-field Hamiltonian using the known LiHoF4 crystal-field wave functions, including nuclear hyperfine terms, accurately matches experiment. [S0031-9007(96)00753-3]

Random quantum magnets with broad disorder distribution

We study the critical behavior of Ising quantum magnets with broadly distributed random couplings (J), such that P (lnJ) ∼ | ln J |, α > 1, for large | lnJ | (Lévy flight statistics). For sufficiently broad distributions, α < αc, the critical behavior is controlled by a line of fixed points, where the critical exponents vary with the Lévy index, α. In one dimension, with αc = 2, we obtaind seve...

Thermal negativity in a two qubit XXX and XX spin chain model in an external magnetic field

In this paper we studied the thermal negativity in a two-qubit XX spin ½ chain model and XXX spin1/2 chain model(isotropic Heisenberg model)spin-1/2 chain subjected to an external magnetic field inz direction. We calculate analytical relation for the thermal negativity for two qubit XX and XXX spinchain models in the external magnetic field. Effects of the magnetic field and temperature on then...

Effects of rare regions on magnetic quantum phase transitions

Abstract. The Griffiths region that results from rare regions in disordered itinerant quantum magnets, and its influence on the critical behavior, is considered within the framework of an effective field theory. It is shown that local moments destroy the previously found critical fixed point for antiferromagnets. In contrast, the critical behavior of itinerant ferromagnets is unaffected by the ...

Finite-size scaling of pseudocritical point distributions in the random transverse-field Ising chain

We study the distribution of finite-size pseudocritical points in a one-dimensional random quantum magnet with a quantum phase transition described by an infinite randomness fixed point. Pseudocritical points are defined in three different ways: the position of the maximum of the average entanglement entropy, the scaling behavior of the surface magnetization, and the energy of a soft mode. All ...

Quantum critical behavior of the cluster glass phase.

In disordered itinerant magnets with arbitrary symmetry of the order parameter, the conventional quantum critical point between the ordered phase and the paramagnetic Fermi liquid (PMFL) is destroyed due to the formation of an intervening cluster glass (CG) phase. In this Letter, we discuss the quantum critical behavior at the CG-PMFL transition for systems with continuous symmetry. We show tha...
