چکیده

Land surface evapotranspiration (LET) from typical river basins in China in the years 1991, 1995 and 1999, was modelled with a quantitative remote sensing method, which is based on a modified version of the Surface Energy Balance System (SEBS) model. LET simulations were conducted on several river basins, and validations demonstrated good agreement with observational data on all basins, except the Yellow River. In the Yangtze River basin for example, the study analysed the change in LET corresponding to land use and land cover change from 1991 to 1999. Results showed that the average LET decreased when paddy fields, dry land, grassland, and built-up lands were transformed to other land cover types, and increased when forest land was transformed to dry land and grassland.

Integrating Remote Sensing Information Into A Distributed Hydrological Model for Improving Water Budget Predictions in Large-scale Basins through Data Assimilation

This paper investigates whether remote sensing evapotranspiration estimates can be integrated by means of data assimilation into a distributed hydrological model for improving the predictions of spatial water distribution over a large river basin with an area of 317,800 km2. A series of available MODIS satellite images over the Haihe River basin in China are used for the year 2005. Evapotranspi...

Soil Moisture Estimation in Rangelands Using Remote Sensing (Case Study: Malayer, West of Iran)

Soil moisture is generally regarded as the limiting factors in rangeland production. Although many studies have been conducted to estimate soil moisture in semiarid areas, there is little information on mountainous rangelands in west of Iran. The present study aims to investigate the soil moisture estimation in rangelands as compared to the other land uses over a mountainous area in central Zag...

Estimation of Actual Evapotranspiration, Water productivity, and Irrigation Efficiency of Wheat Fields in Surface and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems Using Remote Sensing

In arid and semi-arid regions, water resource management and optimization of applying irrigation water are particularly important. For optimization of applying irrigation water, the estimated values of actual evapotranspiration are necessary for avoiding excessive or inadequate applying water. The estimation of actual crop evapotranspiration is not possible in large areas using the traditional ...

Regional evapotranspiration estimation based on a two-layer remote-sensing scheme in Shahe River basin

Land surface evapotranspiration (ET) derived from remote sensing data has significant meaning for plant growth monitoring, crop yield assessment, disaster monitoring and understanding energy and water cycle in river basin area and surrounding regions. In the study, we developed a land surface ET remote sensing retrieval system to estimate the daily ET in Shahe river basin using the TM\ETM+ imag...

Estimation of Evapotranspiration Using Remote Sensing Data and Grid Computing: A Case Study in Dobrogea, Romania

Estimating evapotranspiration is essential for understanding the water cycle of natural systems and for the management of the water resources in landscape systems. This paper presents a procedure to calculate the evapotranspiration using the remote sensing data and Grid Computing. Evapotranspiration was retrieved during satellite overpass and integrated for 24 hours on pixel-by-pixel base for d...
