Chemodynamical Simulations of the Milky Way Galaxy
نویسنده
چکیده
We present chemodynamical simulations of a Milky Way-type galaxy using a selfconsistent hydrodynamical code that includes supernova feedback and chemical enrichment, and predict the spatial distribution of elements from Oxygen to Zinc. In the simulated galaxy, the kinematical and chemical properties of the bulge, disk, and halo are consistent with the observations. The bulge formed from the assembly of subgalaxies at z > ∼ 3, and has higher [α/Fe] ratios because of the small contribution from Type Ia Supernovae. The disk formed with a constant star formation over 13 Gyr, and shows a decreasing trend of [α/Fe] and increasing trends of [(Na,Al,Cu,Mn)/Fe] against [Fe/H]. However, the thick disk stars tend to have higher [α/Fe] and lower [Mn/Fe] than thin disk stars. We also predict the frequency distribution of elemental abundance ratios as functions of time and location, which can be directly compared with galactic archeology projects such as HERMES. Galactic Chemical Evolution
The primary present-day observables upon which theories of galaxy evolution are based are a system's morphology, dynamics, colour, and chemistry. Individually, each provides an important constraint to any given model; in concert, the four represent a fundamental (intractable) boundary condition for chemody-namical simulations. We review the current state-of-the-art semi-analytical and chemodyna...
متن کاملGalactic and Cosmic Chemical Evolution with Hypernovae
We provide new nucleosynthesis yields depending on metallicity and energy (i.e., (normal supernovae and hypernovae), and show the evolution of heavy element abundances from C to Zn in the solar neighborhood. We then show the chemodynamical simulation of the Milky Way Galaxy and discuss the G-dwarf problem. We finally show the cosmological simulation and discuss the galaxy formation and chemical...
متن کاملOn the Origin of High-eccentricity Halo Stars
The present-day chemical and dynamical properties of the Milky Way are signatures of the Galaxy's formation and evolution. Using a self consistent chemodynamical evolution code we examine these properties within the currently favoured paradigm for galaxy formation-hierarchical clustering within a CDM cosmology. Our Tree N-body/Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics code includes a self-consistent trea...

We simulate the formation and evolution of galaxies with a hydrodynamical model including star fromation, supernova feedback, and chemical enrichment. From the comparison with observed elemental abundances, we study the evolution of galaxies and the origin of heavy elements (Galactic Archaeology). A large fraction of hypernovae is required from the observed abundance ratios in the Milky Way Gal...
متن کاملGalactic Halo Stars in Phase Space :a Hint of Satellite Accretion?
The present day chemical and dynamical properties of the Milky Way bear the imprint of the Galaxy’s formation and evolutionary history. One of the most enduring and critical debates surrounding Galactic evolution is that regarding the competition between “satellite accretion” and “monolithic collapse”; the apparent strong correlation between orbital eccentricity and metallicity of halo stars wa...
