چکیده
This article presents an experimental evaluation on using a refined approach to the Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) for efficiently searching very large image databases. It also describes IPL’s participation to the image CLEF ad-hoc textual and visual retrieval as well as modality classification for the Medical Task in 2013. We report on our approaches and methods and present the results of our extensive experiments applying early data fusion with LSA on several low-level visual and textual features.

IPL at ImageCLEF 2011 Medical Retrieval Task
This article describes IPL’s participation to the image CLEF ad-hoc textual and visual medical retrieval for 2011. We report on our approaches and methods from a systematic experimental investigation on fusion from visual and textual sources of images. We also explore ways to enrich our searches using external sources like Wikipedia.
متن کاملIPL at ImageCLEF 2010
This paper describes the participation of the IPL team in the ImageCLEF-2010 campaign. Our research group has participated in the ad hoc task the case-based and the modality tasks of image retrieval based only on textual data. To reach our aim we performed a quantitative evaluation of Lucene search engine using several state of the art similarity functions. Our runs performed moderately well us...

In our participation in the CLEF 2013 eHealth task 3, we investigate (1) the effectiveness of our Divergence from Randomness (DFR) framework on retrieving medical webpages, (2) the adoption of classical pseudo-relevance feedback for improving the representation of the queries, and (3) the exploitation of a collection enrichment technique for alleviating the mismatches between the terms in docum...

We describe our participation in the task 3 of ShARe/CLEF eHealth Lab 2013: information retrieval to address questions patient may have when reading clinical reports. In our experiments, we focus mainly on two levels of analysis, namely query analysis and document analysis, to disclose the relevance between query and documents. In terms of query analysis, we first observe each medical-oriented ...
متن کاملUsing Discharge Summaries to Improve Information Retrieval in Clinical Domain
Task 3 of the 2013 ShARe/CLEF eHealth Evaluation Lab simulated web searches for health information by patients. The web searches were designed to be connected to hospital discharge summaries from the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR), thus effectually modeling a post-visit information need. We primarily investigated three research questions about the retrieval of medical information fro...
