Deconvolution of Sparse Positive Spikes: Is It Ill-posed?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Deconvolution is usually regarded as one of the so called ill-posed problems of applied mathematics if no constraints on the unknowns can be assumed. In this paper, we discuss the idea of well-de ned statistical models being a counterpart of the notion of well-posedness. We show that constraints on the unknowns such as non-negativity and sparsity can help a great deal to get over the inherent ill-posedness in deconvolution. This is illustrated by a parametric deconvolution method based on the spike-convolution model. Not only does this knowledge, together with the choice of the measure of goodness of t, help people think about data (models), it also determines the way people compute with data (algorithms). This view is illustrated by taking a fresh look at two familiar deconvolvers: the widely-used Jansson method, and another one which is to minimize the Kullback-Leibler distance between observations and tted values. In the latter case, we point out that a counterpart of the EM algorithm exists for the problem of minimizing the Kullback-Leibler distance in the context of deconvolution. We compare the performance of these deconvolvers using data simulated from a spike-convolution model and DNA sequencing data. متن کاملFundamental Limits of Blind Deconvolution Part II: Sparsity-Ambiguity Trade-offs
Blind deconvolution is an ubiquitous non-linear inverse problem in applications like wireless communications and image processing. This problem is generally ill-posed since signal identifiability is a key concern, and there have been efforts to use sparse models for regularizing blind deconvolution to promote signal identifiability. Part I of this two-part paper establishes a measure theoretica...

This article analyzes the recovery performance of two popular finite dimensional approximations of the sparse spikes deconvolution problem over Radon measures. We examine in a unified framework both the l regularization (often referred to as Lasso or Basis-Pursuit) and the Continuous Basis-Pursuit (C-BP) methods. The Lasso is the de-facto standard for the sparse regularization of inverse proble...

The orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) is a greedy algorithm to solve sparse approximation problems. Sufficient conditions for exact recovery are known with and without noise. In this paper we investigate the applicability of the OMP for the solution of ill-posed inverse problems in general and in particular for two deconvolution examples from mass spectrometry and digital holography respectivel...
متن کاملBlind deconvolution of images with model discrepancies using maximum a posteriori estimation with heavy-tailed priors
Single image blind deconvolution aims to estimate the unknown blur from a single observed blurred image and recover the original sharp image. Such task is severely ill-posed and typical approaches involve some heuristic or other steps without clear mathematical explanation to arrive at an acceptable solution. We show that a straightforward maximum a posteriori estimation incorporating sparse pr...
