Interosseous Nerve Compression

چکیده

The anterior interosseous nerve is a branch of the median nerve. It arises from the median nerve just distal to the antecubital fossa, about 5.5 cm distal to the medial epicondyle of the humerus. [2] It passes along the interosseous membrane between the ulna and radius. It terminates in the pronator quadratus muscle around the level of the wrist. It is largely a motor nerve. It supplies the flexor pollicis longus, the lateral half of the flexor digitorum profundus (ie to the radial two digits) and the pronator quadratus.

Sonographic Diagnosis Of Posterior Interosseous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome

Posterior interosseous nerve entrapment is a potential cause of upper extremity muscle weakness and pain. The diagnosis may be difficult to make clinically, and electrodiagnostic tests may not identify the exact site of nerve compression. We report a case of posterior interosseous nerve entrapment in which electrodiagnostic studies suggested radial neuropathy at the level of the spiral groove, ...

Median nerve compression: Pronator and anterior interosseous syndromes

Proximal compression or neuropathy of the median nerve is rare compared with carpal tunnel syndrome but recognition and management of these conditions is important. Pronator syndrome refers to compression of the median nerve around the elbow, which may present with pain in the forearm and paraesthesia in the hand. Anterior interosseous syndrome (palsy) can result from mechanical compression or ...

Pain syndrome and focal myokymia due to anterior interosseous neurovascular relationships: report of a case and neurophysiological considerations.

The anterior interosseous nerve can become entrapped within the antecubital fossa at its origin from the median nerve, which results in the so-called Kiloh-Nevin syndrome. In this report, the authors describe an atypical anterior interosseous nerve syndrome due to neurovascular relationships with the anterior interosseous artery. The patient complained of unbearable analgesic-resistant pain wit...

Anterior Interosseous Nerve Palsy.

Unexplained paralysis of the muscles supplied by the anterior interosseous nerve of the forearm was recorded by Parsonage and Turner (1948), Kiloh and Nevin (1952) and Thomas (1962). In none of the patients they described was the affected nerve explored. Spontaneous recovery occurred in all, but it was long delayed and incomplete. We record here a case of “ isolated neuritis ofthe anterior inte...

Posterior Interosseous Nerve Palsy Caused by Parosteal Lipoma: A Case Report

An 83-year-old woman presented with weakness in her right-hand and wrist extensors and swelling in the proximal part of the right forearm. Electromyography (EMG) confirmed involvement of posterior interosseous nerve at the level of proximal forearm. MR imaging demonstrated the characteristics of lipoma which extended on the anterolateral aspect of the right forearm and at the level of the radiu...
