A Review on the Drag Reduction Methods of the Ship Hulls for Improving the Hydrodynamic Performance
Hydrodynamic performance of a marine vessel mainly depends on the frictional and pressure resistance. Pressure drag reduction could be achieved by improving the shape of the vessels with implementation of modern hull forms. Hull forms optimization techniques could also be used for this purpose. Other techniques are needed to deal with the viscous portion of the total resistance, which is mainly...
متن کاملA framework for risk assessment for maritime transportation systems - A case study for open sea collisions involving RoPax vessels
Maritime accidents involving ships carrying passengers may pose a high risk with respect to human casualties. For effective risk mitigation, an insight into the process of risk escalation is needed. This requires a proactive approach when it comes to risk modelling for maritime transportation systems. Most of the existing models are based on historical data on maritime accidents, and thus they ...

Despite the requirements of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), held by International Maritime Organi...
متن کاملA Ship Routing Problem with Hold and Draft Constraints
Maritime transportation is an important industry, with seaborne trade estimated to be up to 85% in terms of weight of total international trade in 2007. Capital investment for ships is substantial, and the operating costs of a ship may range from thousands to tens of thousands of US dollars daily, thus the potential benefits of optimized approaches to fleet planning are significant. Despite thi...
