Sensitivity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to penicillin in West Germany.

چکیده
The sensitivity of gonococci to penicillin in Germany has largely decreased in the last 22 years. No significant decrease has occurred, however, in the last three years, but the results show that a slight tendency to decrease may be persisting.

Sensitivity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to spectinomycin and thiamphenicol.
Between 1966 and 1978 the sensitivities of strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae (70-80 strains in each year) to penicillin, thiamphenicol, and spectinomycin were tested. For penicillin the proportion of less sensitive strains increased from 21% in 1976 to 41% in 1978 and for thiamphenicol from 10% to 18% over the same period. All the strains proved to be sensitive to spectinomycin. A significant co...
متن کاملAntimicrobial resistance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates in south-west Germany, 2004 to 2015: increasing minimal inhibitory concentrations of tetracycline but no resistance to third-generation cephalosporins
Increasing antimicrobial resistance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, particularly to third-generation cephalosporins, has been reported in many countries. We examined the susceptibility (determined by Etest and evaluated using the breakpoints of the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing) of 434 N. gonorrhoeae isolates collected from 107 female and 327 male patients in Stuttgart, s...
متن کاملEmergence of penicillin resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Introduction: Since the beginning of the modern chemotherapeutic era, the treatment of gonorrhea has been dogged by the shifting antimicrobial susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Though penicillins have been recommended for treatment of gonorrhoeae, there have been reports of treatment failure with penicillins. In this study, we report the emergence of penicillin resistance N. gonorrhoeae ...
متن کاملA study on the frequency of vaginal species of Mycoplasma genitalium, Gardnerella vaginalis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae among pregnant women by PCR technique
Bacterial vaginosis or non-specific vaginitis describes the disease caused by a change in the normal Flora of the vagina, which leads to the elimination of Lactobacilli, generating hydrogen peroxide and excess growth of bacteria, particularly anaerobic bacteria. This disease is the most prevalent infection of the female genital tract, and the rate of frequency of anaerobic bacteria, specificall...
متن کاملIn vitro antimicrobial sensitivity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae from Rwanda.
The in vitro sensitivity of 104 isolates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to six antimicrobial agents was tested. More than 50% of the isolates produced penicillinase. Of those that did not produce penicillinase, 26% were resistant (minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)) greater than or equal to 0.5 mg/l), and 68% showed a decreased sensitivity for penicillin G (0.06 less than or equal to MIC less tha...
