Multislice CT in tumor detection
نویسنده
چکیده
This seminar will address the dramatic impact of multislice (multidetector) CT upon imaging the oncologic patient. This technology is responsible for a dramatic change in the speed and ability for diagnostic radiologists to detect disease. Technology has advanced rapidly in the last 20 years from single-slice CT scanners to helical (spiral) technology. Continuous acquisitions of multiple images represent the newest generation of scanners, referred to as multislice CT. Presently allowing four slices to be acquired simultaneously with newer scanners allowing eight-slice acquisitions. In this context I will address the fundamental technical principles behind these scanners and their impact on clinical protocols for the oncologic patient.

Multislice CT angiography in coronary artery disease: Technical developments, radiation dose and diagnostic value.
Multislice computed tomography (CT) angiography has been increasingly used in the detection and diagnosis of coronary artery disease because of its rapid technical evolution from the early generation of 4-slice CT scanners to the latest models such as 64-slice, 256-slice and 320-slice CT scanners. Technical developments of multislice CT imaging enable improved diagnostic value in the detection ...

Multislice CT angiography represents one of the most exciting technological revolutions in cardiac imaging and it has been increasingly used in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. Rapid improvements in multislice CT scanners over the last decade have allowed this technique to become a potentially effective alternative to invasive coronary angiography in patients with suspected coronary ar...

Influence of dental metallic artifact from multislice CT in the assessment of simulated mandibular lesions
OBJECTIVE This study evaluated the influence of metallic dental artifacts on the accuracy of simulated mandibular lesion detection by using multislice technology. MATERIAL AND METHODS Fifteen macerated mandibles were used. Perforations were done simulating bone lesions and the mandibles were subjected to axial 16 rows multislice CT images using 0.5 mm of slice thickness with 0.3 mm interval o...
متن کاملLiver metastases: optimizing detection with multislice CT (MSCT)
Conventional, single-slice helical computed tomography (CT) allows for scanning the majority of the liver during the critical portal venous phase. This is often referred to as the ‘optimal temporal window’. In general, it occurs following a 70-s scan delay and is coincidental with the maximal delivery of contrast via the portal vein that provides 80% of the hepatic blood supply. This yields max...
