Primary Chronic Sclerosant Osteomyelitis in Bilateral Tibia Shaft: Case Report

چکیده
Chronic Sclerosant Osteomyelitis still attracts attention as a disease of unknown etiology. It is more frequently seen in children and adolescents, and is usually self-limiting. It is characterized by occasional recurrence and painful bone lesions settling symmetrically and it constitutes 2-5% of all osteomyelitis. For this disease, that mostly the adult female population is more affected, female/male ratio is 5/1. It is most frequently seen between ages 4 and 14. There are many different clinical forms of the disease as well as the known classical osteomyelitis. *Corresponding authors: Reşit Sevimli, Turgut Özal Medicine Faculty, İnönü University, 44280, Istanbul, Turkey, Tel: +90 4223773000; E-mail: [email protected] Arsan Hussıen Salih, Turgut Özal Medicine Faculty, İnönü University, 44280, Istanbul, Turkey, Tel: +90 4223773000; E-mail: [email protected] Citation: Sevimli R, Ceylan MF, Salih AH (2016) Primary Chronic Sclerosant Osteomyelitis in Bilateral Tibia Shaft: Case Report. Isolated Chronic Osteomyelitis of Fibula in a Child: A Case Report
Background The most common sites affected in pediatric osteomyelitis are long bones of lower extremities such as femur and tibia but isolated fibular osteomyelitis has rarely been reported in children. Here, we present a case of isolated chronic osteomyelitis of fibula in a 2.5-year-old girl. To our knowledge, this is the youngest patient repor...

We present two children with massive defects of the tibia and an associated active infection who were treated by medial transport of the fibula using the Ilizarov device. The first child had chronic discharging osteomyelitis which affected the whole tibial shaft. The second had sustained bilateral grade-IIIB open tibial fractures in a motor-car accident. The first child was followed up for thre...
متن کاملPrimary versus Delayed Soft Tissue Coverage for Severe Open Tibia1 Fractures
Thirty-six Types I11 and IIIa open fractures of the tibial shaft are presented with a treatment protocol based on early, aggressive wound management and fracture coverage utilizing muscle, myocutaneous, or free flap techniques. There were five amputations, seven deep infections, three nonunions, and no cases of chronic osteomyelitis in the series. The criteria for inclusion in the series were d...
متن کاملBilateral acute tibial osteomyelitis in a patient without an underlying disease: a case report
INTRODUCTION The simultaneous presentation of osteomyelitis in more than one bone is rare and is commonly accompanied by a chronic disease. Even in such cases, other conditions that arise commonly in the long bones of children--such as chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis and Ewing's sarcoma--must be ruled out. CASE PRESENTATION We present the case of a 5-year-old boy with bilateral acu...
متن کاملBilateral Simultaneous Femoral Neck and Shafts Fractures – A Case Report
Simultaneous fractures of the femoral neck and shaft are not common injuries, though they cannot be considered rare. Herein, we report our experience with a patient with bilateral occurance of this injury. Up to the best of our knowkedge this is the first case reported in literature in which correct diagnosis was made initially. Both femurs were fixed using broad 4.5 mm dynamic compression pl...
