On the Difficulty of Manhattan Channel Routing
نویسندگان
چکیده
We show that channel routing in the Manhattan model remains diicult even when all nets are single-sided. Given a set of n single-sided nets, we consider the problem of determining the minimum number of tracks required to obtain a dogleg-free routing. In addition to showing that the decision version of the problem is NP-complete, we show that there are problems requiring at least d + (p n) tracks, where d is the density. This existential lower bound does not follow from any of the known lower bounds in the literature.

Manhattan Channel Routing is NP-complete Under Truly Restricted Settings
Settling an open problem that is over ten years old, we show that Abstract-1 Manhattan channel routing—with doglegs allowed—is NP-complete when all nets have two terminals. This result fills the gap left by Szymanski [Szy85], who showed the NP-completeness for nets with four terminals. Answering a question posed by Schmalenbach [Sch90] and Greenberg, Jájá, and Krishnamurty [GJK92], we prove tha...
متن کاملThe Star-Routing Algorithm Based on Manhattan-Diagonal Model for Three Layers Channel Routing
In this paper, we employ gridded model for channel routing and place the terminals which are horizontally aligned. We have developed a two-layer channel router that can eliminate the constraints due to overlap. The proposed approach is suitable for cell/IP-based channel-less circuit with a few channels. Our developed tool can route the nets in nearly linear time achieving to the advantage of ti...
متن کاملAn improved optimal algorithm for bubble-sorting-basednon-Manhattan channel routing
It is well known that a non-Manhattan channel router always uses fewer routing tracks than a Manhattan router in a channel. To our knowledge, for a bubble-sorting-based nonManhattan channel routing (BSNMCR) problem, Chaudhary’s O(kn) heuristic algorithm [8] and Chen’s O(kn) optimal algorithm [9] have been, respectively, proposed, where n is the number of terminals and k is the number of routing...
متن کاملParallel computation framework for optimizing trailer routes in bulk transportation
We consider a rich tanker trailer routing problem with stochastic transit times for chemicals and liquid bulk orders. A typical route of the tanker trailer comprises of sourcing a cleaned and prepped trailer from a pre-wash location, pickup and delivery of chemical orders, cleaning the tanker trailer at a post-wash location after order delivery and prepping for the next order. Unlike traditiona...
متن کاملA New Method based on Intelligent Water Drops for Multicast Routing in Wireless Mesh Networks
In recent years a new type of wireless networks named wireless mesh networks has drawn the attention of researchers. In order to increase the capacity of mesh network, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi channel wireless mesh networks. Therefore, the main challenge of these networks is how to properly assign the channels to the radios. O...
