Approximation representations for reals and their wtt-degrees

چکیده
We study the approximation properties of computably enumerable reals. We deal with a natural notion of approximation representation and study their wtt-degrees. Also, we show that a single representation may correspond to a quite diverse variety of reals.

Computably Enumerable Reals and Uniformly Presentable Ideals
We study the relationship between a computably enumerable real and its presentations. A set A presents a computably enumerable real α if A is a computably enumerable prefix-free set of strings such that α = ∑ σ∈A 2 −|σ|. Note that ∑ σ∈A 2 −|σ| is precisely the measure of the set of reals that have a string in A as an initial segment. So we will simply abbreviate ∑ σ∈A 2 −|σ| by μ(A). It is know...
متن کاملWeak Truth Table Degrees of Structures
We study the weak truth table (wtt) degree spectra of first-order relational structures. We prove a dichotomy among the possible wtt degree spectra along the lines of Knight’s upward-closure theorem for Turing degree spectra. We prove new results contrasting the wtt degree spectra of finiteand infinite-signature structures. We show that, as a method of defining classes of reals, the wtt degree ...
متن کاملGroups with Two Extreme Character Degrees and their Minimal Faithful Representations
for a finite group G, we denote by p(G) the minimal degree of faithful permutation representations of G, and denote by c(G), the minimal degree of faithful representation of G by quasi-permutation matrices over the complex field C. In this paper we will assume that, G is a p-group of exponent p and class 2, where p is prime and cd(G) = {1, |G : Z(G)|^1/2}. Then we will s...
متن کاملHypersimplicity and semicomputability in the weak truth table degrees
We study the classes of hypersimple and semicomputable sets as well as their intersection in the weak truth table degrees. We construct degrees that are not bounded by hypersimple degrees outside any non-trivial upper cone of Turing degrees and show that the hypersimple-free c.e. wtt degrees are downwards dense in the c.e. wtt degrees. Moreover, we consider the sets that are both hypersimple an...
متن کاملOn minimal wtt-degrees and computably enumerable Turing degrees
Computability theorists have studied many different reducibilities between sets of natural numbers including one reducibility (≤1), many-one reducibility (≤m), truth table reducibility (≤tt), weak truth table reducibility (≤wtt) and Turing reducibility (≤T ). The motivation for studying reducibilities stronger that Turing reducibility stems from internally motivated questions about varying the ...
